Indian fans with Australian citizenship
by muthu kandan on Dec 29, 2018 02:11 PM  | Hide replies

Imagine an Indian immigrant who is a Virat Kohli’s Fan, obtained Australian citizenship last month watching 3rd test at MCG. What you expect him to do? Come with baggy green cap to support Australia or still support India? It’s complicated. You can’t change overnight, it will take time infact generations. Even if he can change his mind to support Australia it is very hard for Australian fans to understand him, because one can’t see the mind but only the skin.

But one should not forget history, whites in Australia came there as immigrants and abducted lands of native tribes and even killed them. Indian immigrants will never stoop that low, it is not in their blood.

Whether that Indian immigrant in Australia waves the Indian flag or the Australian flag will hardly be noticed by Australian whites !

Whether that Indian waves the Indian flag or the Australian flag, in the eyes of the great majority of Australian white people, he will remain a coloured economic refugee from one of the most grindingly poor countries !

international cricket matches between India and the host nation in England or Australia, thousands of Indians (most of them immigrant citizens) can be seen wildly cheering the Indian team and waving big Indian flags.

If Indian citizens dare to wave the flag of the opposing team and cheer it in an Indian stadium, they would invite the attention of millions of Indians and would be condemned for being *anti national* by the stuxpid as ever Indian middle classes (especially North Indian middle class commoners) !

Those cheering opposing teams would even run the risk of being physically attacked.

But in England or Australia, Indian immigrants who have strained and laboured all their lives to become citizens of those countries would not even be noticed by native white people even if they spend all their time in stadia wildly cheering the Indian team and waving any number of big Indian flags !

They would be dismissed immediately as economic refugees from a grindingly poverty stricken nation trying to salvage a little bit of their self esteem !

Though outnumbered I have seen foreign fans in India supporting their teams with their country flags without any issue from Indian fans. I really feel sorry for indian immigrants living in foreign countries especially who have become citizens of other countries, with such crowd behaviors.

Everyone has come with a visa I say.

These Aussies thinking that everyone is like their great grandfathers..

Apart from Virat, all Indian players and fans have valid visa.
Virat with his beard and all, looks like an animal, so doesn't need a visa.

You must be an anti national. Do you like Dhoni? Do you like Imran Khan?
