I individually aver that, India should be proactive and shrug off any prejudice owing to our team combination. Kaptaan Sa’b and Shastriji should let go the Mere Apne mode of thinking or (if I’m not big mouthed), both of them will go off- 1) Rishabh Pant-Whoever labelled him as replacement for MSD. He cannot be expected to wear Dhoni’s PANTs, particularly with this audacious degree of Sense-of-Responsibility. Parthiv Patel, the only choice should replace him in the next two tests; 2) KL Rahul-Let’s do away with RAHUl kalam. Don’t test him further in tests. He fascinates the taste of T20s and at best ODIs. As such, clearly speaking there is dirth of openers (with Prithwi Shaw ruled out from the whole tour) and we’d be testing and testing without any conviction. So, with Rohit in the team, let us ALSO TRY HIM. At least justify the airfare and hotel charges of taking him there. There is no use trying him at number 5/6. If he clicks, much good, if not, try again. 3) Murali Vijay-He will be there, isn’t it. So, try Mayank Agarwal with Rohit Sharma in the coming two tests to open the innings. If they fail, we can always criticize Pujara and Kohli if they don’t hit 90% of the runs required, because, our tailenders play like West Indies of 70s & 80s. Is he promoting himself for upcoming IPL? Too many question marks. Either he plays like he should or he’ll be nowhere in this team. 5) Ravindra Jadeja-He should play. The team can play 3 well set seamers with two spinners if Ashwin is fit and if he remains unfit further, then, play Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the fourth seamer. No difference anyway, if we play one batsman short. Thus, the line-up should be 1) Rohit Sharma, 2) Mayank Agarwal, 3) Ch’Pujara, 4) V’Khli, 5) A’Rahane, 6) Parthiv Patel, 7) Ravindra Jadeja 8) R’Ashwin 9) Md’Shami 10) Ishant Sharma 10) J’Bumrah Atleast, the new comers will try well to cement their place atleast for the next test match!
2 opening batsmen need to be aggressive. 2 bowlers who can also contribute with the bat are required to be included in the team. Hence four changes, preferably including 2 spinners.
Farookh Engineer, Harbajan Singh and many others predicted a handsome series win for INDIA, already we are at 1:1 and the way things are looking, leave alone drawing the series, losing it to the supposedly weakened Australian team, looks a possibility.
Pujara and Kohli batting are the only patches of good show, rest of it sick. The openers hardly score anything, the Tail could have tried to do the same as Aussie last 3-5 players, but alas nothing happened.
Kohli stands out for his poor behaviour and atrocious image he creates as a captain. For all the influence he is putting on Board, selection, coaching etc, he looks to be creating a disturbed atmosphere and a scenario of fear/favoritism/partiality amongst the players.
Our bowlers have bowled well, but still not the terrorising type which Australia have done.. a few significant partnerships carried Australia through, which the bowler's could not break at the right times.
Look at our defeat this test, compared to our defeat margin. This shows the story.
But it is very easy to guess which team will travel to the third test full of verve and confidence and which one will go with that usual sinking feeling !!!
And the comic levels to which the Indian media raised its hype about the *all conquering Indian team* will only prove to be another heavy mill stone around the neck of the Indian team !
