Kohli may be best among the current lot, but can't be compared with Sachin or Gavaskar. Conditions were far more demanding and challenging during an era when Sachin / Gavaskar Played. Current Scene is: - Small grounds - Flat and batting friendly pitches - 2 new bowls, field restrictions - Today's bowling outfit is weak compared to erstwhile attacking likes of bowlers like Holding, Thomson, Walsh, Ambrose, Waqar, Wasim, Lee, McGrath, Donald, Bond, Warne, and the list goes on. We don't have such quality bowling attack in current condition. Sachin / Gavaskar faced much more challenging scene, and brought their best by rising above those demands.

I think no Indian batsman should be compared with Gavaskar. He was & will continue to be the best for all time. None of current batsman has faced West Indies pace attack of those days without helmet & other weapons in West Indies ground. Remember he not only went on scoring centuries, never got injury only due to his masterly batting technique. Only Barry Richards of SA may be better than him marginally I suppose.

Absolutely correct. Gavaskar faced deadly attacking unit. Even era of Sachin had fantastic quality bowlers from every nation. Now there is no quality at all. In case some are good, half of the time they remain injured like Starc. Even look at the blades of the bats these days... Compared to these, the bats used by Gavaskar era players seemed like "Wooden Paatiyas" ..
Sachin was part of the team that had poor bowling attack. So even his best could not save matches. Whereas Kohli has a good bowling attack that can win matches. so at times even a good 50,60 from him could win matches, whereas Sachin,s 100 could not. Same goes with ponting as well..

But this is still a game played by 10 commonwealth nations. It is nothing compared to the achievements made by the hundreds of our asiad athletes.

100 countries my foot...Yes expatriate Indians have no other job and can play cricket at the streets. No country has taken this game seriously. The BCCI just in order to remain in control has not even try to make it an Asian game sport. It is one of the laziest games in the world. The crickets bats designed now are such that even a 10 year school boy can hit a six. A table tennis player needs much more skills than Cricket players.

So you think playin gon flat wickets and fixed matches is greater than Asiad? Even Olympian silver medalist Sindu couldn't get Gold here in Asiad.

With his data logic he would say that high school 3rd division getter would be better than IAS topper ( who hardly cross 50% marks )

Had Kohli faced that West Indian Pace Battery and Aus Deadly Bowlers his career would have finshed before taking off. Infact Sachin too is nothing compare to Gavaskar when it comes to face Quality attack these days all bowlers are exposed in IPL so there is just a pitch change but imagine a situation in 80s when Batsman had to face those deadly bowlers while their practice used to happen with Ranji like matches.
