Kohli: Indian version of Greg Chappel
by Pradeepta Panda on Aug 14, 2018 10:04 AM  | Hide replies

Kohli is still insecure about his captainship. therefore, his first job is to unsettle the player who can challenge his position. Pujara (better average then him in test cricket when he got captainship) and Rahane (doing a good job whenever got captainship). So first job is to destroy their confidence, then he can Raj over the team. Perfect plan. Nobody mentioned about Vijay's case. He will be also soon out, because he is not sure about his position. Kohli is the Indian version of Greg Chappel. Out to destroy the team so that he will appear as the greatest ever. Hope he does not recover from his back problem for atleast the next test and if for the whole series it will be the best things to happen for India. Any day I believe Rahane or Aswin will do a better job as skipper (if you look at last IPL you can understand very well).
With series on line and no way we see improvements for the present side go for (assuming Kohli unfit):
Vijay, Rahul, Pujara, Rahane, Nair, Pant, Ashwin, Hardik, Sami,Ishant, Bumrah

For me actually Kohli has no back problem. When he saw the situation he imitated the back problem so that he can escape from not being able play well.

Bro .. You might be frustrated to see India performance(like all of us) and try to find a reason but the reality is its players performing poorly rather than issue with Kohli or someone else. Honestly Vijay , Dhawan,Pujara,Rahul & Rahane did nothing to prove their place. They need to perform better to keep their places in team. It is as simple as that.

This is not team India, this is Kohli and friends!
by claudius lazarus on Aug 14, 2018 09:05 AM

Kohli is obstinate and refuses to listen to anyone. He has a coach who toes his line and they both work on "you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours" philosophy. The team has several players who are in the team only because Kohli insists.

But for the people blaming it for this failure should also look back into the era when IPL did not exist and check results oberseas

I think Shastri should be replaced by Azharuddin as coach. He's good mentor for youngsters as well.
Captain should continue.

Yes, he can cry on being targeted because he is a minority when questioned during defeats

Difference between two team is the lower order
by P.Prabhu on Aug 13, 2018 07:41 PM  | Hide replies

Team management should think about lower order too while making changes in top order. Hardik Pandya is giving a false impression of having extra batsman and extra bowler, not justifying any. He should be replaced with either a good bowler or a good batsman.

Shastri must not be spared .. when team performs he will lead the post-match press conference if the team fails Shastri will not be in the scene. Actually by nature & temperament, he is the most greedy, luxurious burden of this Indian Cricket contingent.
Both coach & captain to be replaced.

Kohli is a great batsman but a poor captain tactically.
Much like Tendulkar.
Remove the burden of captaincy from the shoulders of Kohli.
He should continue as the premier batsman in the team.
Pujara or Rahane should be made the captain.Replace Ravi Shastri as Coach.
Remove the culture of Prima Donnas in the team.
Kumble was the right choice.
Like ECB did with Pietersen affair, Remove both the coach and the captain Choose a new Captain.
One has to realize that IPL and Tests is an ocean apart in tenor and tempo and temperament.

you said it right. why can't 3 formats different captain. Why only Kohli for all of the format. Shastri should be kicked out of the team. Rahane should be made as test captain.

india and Lords cavein
by on Aug 13, 2018 06:33 PM  | Hide replies

The scheduling of the tours has been pathetic by the BCCI in the last 3-4 series-specially overseas ones.
Not enough practice matches. No practice matches in between tests.
So no chance to try and rectify mistakes. No chance to checkout players on the bench.
Evry test match should be followed by at least 1-2 prctice matches or county games.
Earlier era heroes like Gavaskar,Vishwanath etc all had 2-3 month tours with a match against every county. All interspersed with tests.
Do not mix T20s and tests schedules.

Friends, don't get me wrong. This has been weakness of our batting side in all eras. When we get exposed to quality seam/swing in a bouncy wickets, our batsman prefers sitting in pavilion rather standing at middle. Yes India has a very strong batting line up but only in sub continent conditions. Interestingly, the big mount Coach is silent now.

WHY take a Europe break ?
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Aug 13, 2018 06:04 PM

Gavasker made avital point. WHy did the team go on a week's Europe jaunt between the ODI and Tests. They should have played two 3 day matches at least against strong teams, but instead played just a dummy match against Essex.Just shows the playboy nature of the Shaz-Kohli combo.
