Nothing new....every previous generation player gets livid with new generation...when players of previous generation of smg said the same thing about gavadkars team he would get equally angry with those players and defebd himself with same or similar excuses like what kohli or shastri will give....dont get so emotional....accept victories and defeats with equal grace

To succeed in England one needs to first change his mindset, you should be well prepared to stay at the crease for long duration. First Murali vijay and K L Rahul should be dropped and include Cheteswar Pujara and Rohit Sharma in their place. Also India should go with four specialist bowlers and include one extra batsman. Scoring big is the most important criteria to win in English condition otherwise this time also we will be labelled as " Tiger at home and Lamb outside". Being a number one Test team it will great shame if we keep on losing outside Sub-continent.

Well said, Mr.Gavaskar. When Sunil Gavaskar talks, everybody listens, because he established that credibility for himself.

Of course. When it is test cricket batting, you have to listen quietly when he speaks & must give your mind to learn. Be it quick bowling or swing bowling or spin bowling & let it be under any condition. In sub continent (could be in world level)he was the best batsman with best level of techniques for all times. No question on this.

It is very important to understand that test match cricket is not like one day cricket or T20. It is not how fast you score runs in test cricket, but how long you can stay on crease. If you look at the indian team track record overseas for the past two years, there is hardly any batsman who has stayed in the crease and was not out for more than a day. Chasing 184 should have been walk in the park as long as the batsman had the determination to stay in crease and not loose the wicket. Obviously England bowlers bowled very well and we should not take the credit away from them, but still none of our batsman except for Kohli had the determination or will power to not give away their wickets. Please look at the track record of Dhawan, Vijay, Rahane, puajara, rohit for the past two years. we desperately need players like Dravid and laxman. How much ever we practice, if the mindset of test cricket is not instilled in these players, it is impossible for us to win in overseas condition.

In test cricket, now a days bowlers are not in a mood to bowl maiden overs, but they are attacking more and dont mind giving away some runs. So if batsmen try to be more defensive they may lose their wicket without scoring much runs. If they have 200 runs to score for a win in the second innings with two days to spare, the approach should not be to bat full 180 overs and try for a win. They need to try and finish the game in 50-60 overs. The approach to test cricket is now changed and most of the matches are finished within 4 days. Earlier drawing a match was more or less like a win, but now all teams want to win each and every match. Nobody is interested for a draw. The batsmen approach to the game should be like the way Shewag was playing test cricket, even if not that extend, they should reduce defesive storokes and needs to be more attacking.

Let us also give credit to English team for their better bowling. The ball was swinging and seaming all the time, and at times bowlers looked getting wicket every ball they bowled.
Yes, T20s and ODIs have contributed to lack of staying power on the crease. So all in all, better team won, better in all aspects of the game.

Is it only players and captain responsible ?
And what about the team's "LUXARY MAN" (Coach) Ravi ?
Of course, when the team succeeds this fellow would immediately comes to press to swallo the whole credit.
