well played Virat
by Anand Manjrekar on Aug 03, 2018 02:31 PM

If India restricts England to 200 runs lead then India can think of winning but that too again 50:50 as it will not be easy to bat last inning against English bowlers. Dhawan & Rahane will have to stay at the wicket for long time to get those runs.

Very touch task for India, but I am hoping for a miracle!
by Lin Comp on Aug 03, 2018 12:35 PM

Any lead by england above 100 in the 4th innings will be difficult to chase in these kinds of bowling friendly pitches, that too for a touring team.

Cricket heavily favors home teams, because home teams have so many advantages when it comes to games such as cricket, probably more advantages than in any other sports and games.

England has the type of batsmen who can hit quick 30 or 40 or even more and easily take the lead to 200 plus and any score above 150 will require a herculean task and miracle for India to chase against these top quality bowlers on these kinds of pitches.

I hope India can somehow manage to win this test, but to do so many batsmen have to play well, Kohli has to hit another big innings, and first the bowlers have to do a splendid job with fielders assisting them, and umpires doing a fair job too!

All the very best India & Kohli!

Sorry, unfortunately this test favours England
by Lin Comp on Aug 03, 2018 12:24 PM

I am sorry to disappoint who wrote test is evenly poised; this test is certainly favoring england still. An England victory is written all over this test, I hope I am wrong because how elated we can become if India can go on to win this test that too with an unbelievable century by our Emperor Kohli! But unlike lucky captain dhoni, Kohli hardly wins tosses, especially outside India. Playing 4th innings is very difficult task in test cricket, especially in test matches away from home, England will fight tooth and nail, and see how pathetic our batsmen other than Kohli, after his score the next best was dhawan’s 26.

And how can any team win if Umesh Yadav is present? If Kuldeep Yadav was present then England would have been all out within 200.

Anyway Kohli is obsessed with umesh Yadav so what we can do, hope India can win this test, but to win Kohli will have to hit another century in the second innings too.

All the very best to India & Kohli!

Virat is just super-hero
by Jayaprakash Balan on Aug 03, 2018 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

Virat is just super-hero in today's cricket. To an extend he looks better than Sachin because its not just his batting, but attitude, aggressiveness, captainship, decision making, body language all in all the best. There is not a dull moment in the field when he is around. And England team especially Joe Root should have shame is trying to play mind games with Virat to demoralise him without knowing that Virat is a tougher guy than them and things only backfire as you see England could probably lose the test match with Nil score since neither their batting department and especially bowling is very ineffective though India lost wickets easily. Anderson is looking very normal and worst is their spinner Rashid. Wondering how is he an international spinner, not at all improved over the years compared to our Ashwin who is top class. Even England's best bat Cook was not playing with a positive attitude. So, Joe Root & Co. beware of the Indian tigers. We have come to you land to show you that gone are the days when cricket was the game of Englishmen.

Virat was terrific ,but other batsmen in the team are pretty ordinary.Y'day's play remainded me of the 90's India team in which Sachin always used to play the lone ranger. As regards to Anderson,if you've seen the match properly he was beating Kohli's bat even when he was batting @ 80 and also the 2 dropped chances were of Anderson's bowling.Probably,if one of those would have been taken you wouldn't be making this comment. This is test cricket not some gully cricket,so mind games will be played so no one needs to be ashamed of anything.

Exactly. He is a genius. However each time he may not be able to save India. Others also have to take ownership. This test will certainly end with a decision though I think England has an edge at this point of time since India will have to play 4th innings. Both Dhawan & Vijay would be the key for India apart from Virat. Whatever happens would be a close finish it seems.

No doubt kohli played a great inning but there is a big difference between aggression and buffoonery. Whatever kohli ds on field is buffoonery n it dsnt suit to captain of a leading team... and plz dnt compare him with Legend Sachin. Sachin as miles better batsman than current generation as he played against world class bowlers...

Can you please share his (Sachin's) records also against world class bowlers to make your argument right?(Against McGrath, Ambrose, Walsh, Donald, Pollock, Wasim, Waqar, Akhtar, Broad, Vaas, Heath Streak..)
Can you please tell, Sachin has dominated which of these bowlers consistently? Please don't come up with example of one or two occasions against them.
Come On. Don't be emotional.. Sachin records are best among Indian cricketers and in the world as well, but Kohli is performing equally well doesn't matter you like him or not.

Oh really u want stats... ok this is fr u. His average against world class bowlers - Walsh 67, Ambrose 58, Warne 60, Steyn 58, murli 46, McGrath 44, Lee 69, vettory 61... no doubt kohli is playing brilliant bt if u think that he is performing equally well, U shud compare bowlers also.. right? N if u think that current bowlers except Steyn, Anderson, starc.. are half as good as bowlers against whom Sachin played...then there is nothing left to say... cn u tell even a single bowler of capability of Warne or murli ??? U know the answer :)
