So the stroll in the SLanakan parks is over! After the easiest of series not having to put in too much efforts the young Indian side could suddenly find themselves a bit unsettling pitted against a much tougher opposition even if this Aussie side is among the weakest to tour India. It will be interesting to see how well the youngsters adjust to the increased efforts needed especially w/o the lead spinners. In a way resting Ashwin and Jadeja and trying out the 2nd string is not a bad strategy to build the bench strength in run upto 2019 WC build up with many more games to be played. But I personally feel the selectors and Virat-Shastri &co. who appear to be seriously thinking of sidelining the main spinners, especially Ashwin in favor of the youngsters for the 2019 WC could boomerang. Instead their strategy should be to bank on the top 5 for 2019 -Umesh,Shami,Bhuvi,Ashwin and jadeja; give them more time and confidence to sharpen their attack of the experienced duo. One more either Kuldip or Axar from the experiments can be added and should be the best strategy unless of course these youngsters outperform the Ashwin--Jadeja duo in the matches to be played. But I do not subscribe to the idea of starting with the intent to change the existing experienced duo. So the team management must show confidence and give them adequate opportunity to the top 5 rather than trying to cut down on the main spinners in favour of youngsters right from the word go.

@damodaran mohan:: I don't agree with you. If you look at Aswin's record against strong teams on flat decks in ODI's its pretty ordinary. He bowled poorly in champions trophy. Let him play county cricket for sometime to correct his flaws. And lets groom youngsters for ODIs
