KUMBLE'S DEMAND
by Ezhilan on May 25, 2017 05:55 PM

It is fair enough for any captain to demand hike in their contract amount when the team is doing good under his tenure as head coach. Now, it is for the BCCI to decided whether they deserve the hike or not. But, I sincerely feel a hike here would definitely do good to the team at a time when the morale of the team is high after series winning against the best teams in the world. I hope the BCCI takes a lenient view to kumble's demands.

Kumble to behave like a union leader...is he the president of players' association or the coach. They have just won a few series played at home. Does this justify asking for a huge pay increase?
Kumble has just completed one year as coach and his term was also for one year. He should have taken up this when the discussion for renewal is initiated.

During my annual revision time, if I am confident that I contributed significantly to company's growth, I will demand higher %of increase and state my numbers. Whether I make money in stock market, or land deals out side my primary job, has none of my company's business.

Do you know Eng and Aus players get payed more than indian players? How is this possible even though BCCI is the richest cricket body?

Also, kumble and virat have asked only the test players to be in Grade-A. This is also fair.

Kumble has been at the forefront of player issues all his life. He is the one who negotiated with BCCI back when Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly were in the team to get contracts for the players.

Just because you have more money than your neighbour, will you spend lavishly on your child or ask him o show some achievement?
The players are earning enough especially from IPL and ads.Let BCCI do some charitable work by sponsoring some mid day meals for poor school children or on their education. That will be a way of giving something back to the spectators.

It is not about whether I have more money or less money. My maid servent asked for his/her fee raise. I have a choice to reject that demand and ready to face consequence or I honor it. Neither BCCI is doing any favor to Kumble not Kumble to BCCI - it is a business. Kumble is right in demanding what feels is his compensation should be. BCCI has the option of reject it isntead of washing their dirty linen in public in the pretext of being transparent. There is difference between being transparent Vs managing confidentiality. No wonder why ICC could handover raw deal to BCCI in revenue sharing dispute becuase BCCI is in the hands of morons.

Captaincy Burden ?
by THANGAVELU on May 25, 2017 04:59 PM  | Hide replies

Is it new logic to ask compensation for Captaincy burden? Then bowling burden, batting burden and fielding burden, not in eleven mental torture ..... Every cricketer in India proud to be captain of Indian Team. Not burden, as Kumble demands.... He is a good individual .... that's another matter.....

When you work for a company and demand for salary hike, will company publicise your demand with whatever reasons you stated for your hike? Bottomline, BCCI's current team is not competent to handle the business. Our cricket in the verge of collapse. It is becuase Supre court poked it's nose in the areas that they are not competent and put set of incompetent business folks to run BCCI. The first casualty of such change is the new revenue sharing model handed over by ICC and our incompetent BCCI team could do nothing but accept the raw deal. Publicing what demands of players or coach is another example of how unprofessionally the BCCI is being run now.

Whats wrong with Kumble's demand?
by Pukuta Mestri on May 25, 2017 04:37 PM

BCCI takes cricket as the business; otherwise they would not have made themselves mockery with ICC when negotiating for higher revenue share. If BCCI demands higher revenue share it is fair but not when coach/team asks for hike? BCCI has the right to reject Kumble's demands or drop him from head coach role but Kumble has the right to demand his remuneration. As much as BCCI has option to interview and select new coach or continue with Kumble, Kumble has the option to reject the role of coach if BCCI rejects whatever requests he demanded. It is a business and while Kumble showed his professional etiquette by not making public his demands, BCCI on other hand behaved completely opposite. Transparency is right but confidentiality is not for public debate.

Over the years the guy made money, respect everything from the game. Before he deserved to become the coach, he was made the coach. But at the same time he forgot a great important attribute, that of being humble.
He has made loads of money , must have made after retiring , but still greed , got the better of him.
He thought bcoz he won a few series, he was bigger than everything .
Good that the BCCI showed him his place. He dug his own grave by asking more than he deserved . No one is bigger than the game . Let it be a lesson to all others angling for the big carrot.

Nobody is doung a favor others. BCCI or Kumble have their interest to be protected. Just becuase someone made lots money doesn't mean they should not aspire for bigger pie. BCCI has not showed Kumble his place but showed how pathetic the business is being run now. Did Kumble said he will quit the job coaching if his demands are not met? He might quit or BCCI may bring someone new - that's diffrent aspect. He did not threaten in anyway to blackmail. So, interpreting with your preconcieved notion has no merit.

Yes.As long as Anil kumble is going hungry, this is to be termed as just naked greed for money. He should be summarily removed ,and shown his place .After all we can always find many Indian players as coach.

Many in karnataka had respected Anil kumle, not only for his bowling ,but also for him to have been understood as humble human being, which was shattered when he asks for a hefty raise, totally unbecoming of a person deserving respect, hmm I have lost , and would be able to get him back to the same old position. Then does it mater.

If you ask for your huge salary hike in your company, can that be seen as you are a candidate to be disrespected?
