Smith has to be credited with the competitiveness that Australia has always been known for. His success as a batsman has been equally impressive. But having had India on the mat with a crushing win to start the series, he has to take the blame for losing out ultimately. In the last Test at Dharmasala, India won the psychological game. They created an impression that Shami is getting back into the team, thereby telling Australia that the pitch will aid the pace bowlers. Australia called the bluff and included only two pacers, not knowing that it was a double bluff! The pitch indeed did something for the pacers. I dare say that if Australia had another fast bowler, say Bird, the result would have been different.
