Who predicted 4-0???
by on Mar 28, 2017 03:44 PM

How can a No.2 test side be expected to lose 4-0?

Just a hype created by the Australian media so that they don't feel ashamed of losing in India.
If they lose, it is always, we though so.. And if they manage a win or two, it is a "head held high performance"!!

When we tour down under, the Australian media predicts that Indian team is strong enough to win the series. Then, even after a gallant performance, if we lose, it is reported as a grand failure and the whole media gets into India Bashing.

Here, rediff itself reports that it was expected that Australia would lose 4-0!!

WHO expected? No one knows!!
They played well, as a world No. 2 side is expected to play.
They narrowly missed being hammered 3-1 and yes, they deserve credit for holding on at Ranchi.

Smith's apology
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Mar 28, 2017 03:02 PM  | Hide replies

A handsome apology from SMith. Our players can also learn how to express regret from one of the world's top 3 batsmen. We have a tendency to always insist we were right.

Why are you so sorry about yourself and your country?
Who is "we" in your post? Why to be apologetic!!

You hardly read between the lines. He said "great in their backyard". What he meant was, had it been elsewhere .... Hardly a gracious way of accepting the superiority of the victor. Australians can never be even remotely decent when they lose!

It is an internationally known fact that India has performed poorly ( disastrously) in UK, Aus and NZ in last 5-6 years. So nothing wrong in confronting the truth even if an Aussie had to state it.

Smith Performance was excellent
by Kannan Ramanan on Mar 28, 2017 01:50 PM  | Hide replies

Australian attitude is not that many teams across the world like, however their performances are generally noteworthy. Failure in sub-continental conditions are to be expected. The shock was India's defeat in Pune in our-friendly conditions.
We don't cover ourselves in glory when we visit Australia. In the current lot of good batsman, ABD, Hashim Amla, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Kane Williamson, Kohli, Smith are all amongst the best. Smith should be almost leading in terms of Runs, 100's etc.

Smith could be awkward in movements and not stylish to watc. But it looks as if he's going to be as good as Sachin in sheer run making ability in all conditions, against all opponents.

Are you not happy that we won the series 2-1 and with a bit of luck would have won 3-1?
Why are you mentioning about visiting Australia? We have just played excellent cricket and won today, notwithstanding "noteworthy" performance by Australia.
Was our performance not noteworthy?
The pitch did everything, is it?

Unless this team emulates Dravid's team in WI and England and emulates Wadekar's teams in WI and ENgland, it cannot be considered as good as those teams.Though it certainly deserves good praise for the series win, it was still a home series.
