Two records that will ever remain forever in test or any first class cricket will be that of Sir Don's 99.99 batting average and Brian Lara's 501 and 400. Atleast no one in present generation of cricketers can even come close to these figures.
Why could Rediff not ask the same for Virat? For Smith, he was initially included in the Ausi squad as leggie. He has the worst stance if to be compared with other pure batsmen. He shuffles a lot to the offside and make a considerable amount of his body movement before a bowler could deliver a ball. It is just a matter of time that his weak point is disclosed and his dream run will soon be at the end.

yes surely...smith is an ordinary batsman with extraodinary patience...but that wont take him longer..he can max play another 3-4 years...only against India he looks good ...only looks,,, not really
all 3 carry country responsibility (nay expectation) on their shoulders...but fitness and consistency of form is a must to achieve Sachin;s feat. Looks remote thought at this point of time.
unless there's some major injury that keeps him away from cricket for a considerable period of time.
and same goes for virat kohli and alistar cook
although i feel Jaques Kallis was a better test player. just look at his test record, he bowled regular overs. and as a batsman he has 45 test 100s, 55 plus avg in 34 less number of test matches compared to sachin. he quit midway before he could cross the landmark.

Thesd guys do not play for records like Sachin did. They know when to call it a day. Sachin had to be given a ultimatum to get out. Did Sachin realize the number of batsmen who lost their chance to play for India because of his selfishness?
