So it was Pak turn to maul India and how! The team Pak deserves all credit for the turn-around due to their self-belief after the first match thrashing by India. Although their bowling brilliance were never in doubt but the all-round dazzling performance is certainly a revelation and I too have egg on my face the way I dismissed their chances against India in my last blog. It is evident even Virat & Co had underestimated Pak’s all round cricketing abilities and paid the price for certain level of complacency. However most of us in India, the experts were aware of the likely threat of the opening spell of Md Amir and from Hasan Ali in the middle overs. But still Virat, Rohit and Dhawan all getting out happened so fast before anyone realizing what was happening that it was all over in the first 9 overs! It only shows Virat was a bit cocky and rigid the way he approached his batting and stuck to 2 specialist pace bowlers n playing XI. Thus even if India had batted first the result would not have been much different or could have been even worse because India would have been out for below 200 anyway. With Bumrah not firing and a bit erratic giving away too many NB and wides and the spinners bowling negative bowling the entire bowling plan except for Bhuvi went for a toss. Thus Virat must realize that in overseas conditions 3 regular wicket taking pacers is must unless Pandya with ability to hit big as he did yesterday also improves his bowling.

(contd.)It must be understood that although Pandya did not bowl badly but he is not a strike bowler. On the role of spinners in middle overs Ashwin bowling a negative line is no good. He certainly needs to re-invent himself in the shorter formats to be more positive trying to take wickets and not just contain. Moreover the perceived long batting line up is not “long” after all with too much dependence on the first three. Thus places for aged players like Dhoni, Yuvi, Kedar jadhav …certainly need a review with younger players taking their place for 2019 WC. It should be a good learning for Virat as captain for the WI and subsequent tours should help him prepare better with suitable bowling combo and batting plan for 2019 WC.

Pakistan was advised from all corners to bat first if win toss.kohali give cup on plate to pak by not batting first,also indian lackluster bowling attack could get boost by inclution of umesh yadav whom many pak batsman fearful and was great bowling in first match vs pak.
