Dollar from the locker
by SA VATE on Jun 04, 2017 04:26 PM

Any one knows what happened for the dollars found from his locker?

In July 2000, The managing committee of the Bombay Gymkhana on Thursday admitted to its members that a sum of Rs 700,000 - Rs 125,000 in Indian currency and the rest in Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Pakistani currency - was found in Sunil Gavaskar's locker. The locker was forced open last September during the ongoing renovation work.

1. Guha has asked whether it is right for Gavaskar to be commentating about players, who are managed by PMG, his company and it seems a valid question.

2. Quote Gavaskar - "Show me one instance where I have tried to influence the selection committee". The Supreme Court ruled that Conflict of Interest is not just about taking undue advantage of your dual position, but being in such a position itself is not right.

From such perspectives, what Guha has raised are pertinent issues and are definitely applicable to the other stars he has named in his letter.

i fail to understand where is the the conflict , Question is can Gavaskar influence selectors , does he have any business ties with the selectors , Sunny praising Dhawan didn't prevent Dhawan being dropped from Indian Test Team or the T20 team ?? Was Rishabh Pant (Deserving) selected for the ongoing CT ?? Sarfaraz Khan last year could not get a regular IPL birth at RCB nether was he selected for any India A or zonal team, Prithvi Shaw couldn't even land an IPL contact , so much so for Sunny influencing things, whatever biases/preferences BCCI commentators say on air in the end amounts to nothing concrete apart from pleasing or angering the viewers. If chairman of selectors MSK Prasad ran PMG then that would constitute a conflict of interest.Since when did selectors start listening to match commentators and dozens of Ex Cricketers employed with different TV News channels/newspapers/Web ?? if Sunny for instance said on air that Srinivas is a good cricketer would then you be selected for Team India !!!

Guha a superstar

Guha is correct when he points out the conflict of interest of Gavaskar . More so why Gavaskar should insist on doing cricket commentary when he is a legend and no legend in the world does such a petty job . Is it his greed for money which is compelling him to do so . Gavaskar must reconcile .

Gary Sobers, Richie Benaud, Barry Richards, Allan Border, Ricky Ponting, Tony Greig, Shane Warne, Geoff Boycott are all legends of the game and they have all done or are doing commentary. Don't talk about things which you don't know anything about. Like self-appointed intellectual Guha. What has Guha done for cricket or the country?

Guha the Super Star!!

Guha has not questioned the integrity of Sunny. He made a point of the conflict of interest. If a player represented by him performs badly on the field, instead of blaming the player, certainly possible for sunny to rest the blame on the pitch or somewhere else. This sets wrong precedence for the others to follow this suite. Also Guha rightly pointed these kind of people lost the right to stand-up against any wrong doing across the board.
