Everything is farce. The Coach, he himself came in to the Test Team not on his performance in domestic tournaments. So many cricket heads are not from the sport and Indian Cricket goes on Lobbying, nepotism, reservation and on.
Not sure, why this hullaboo has been created on Arun becoming the bowling coach of India. He had played a similar role for India earlier as well. At that time, none were aware even about his existence in the Indian team set up. Now after the Zaheer Khan episode, people are ganging up. With all due respects to Zaheer, great cricket credentials doesn't make great cricket coaches. If that had been the case Kapil Dev and Greg Chappell would have been the best coaches for India. Gary Kirsten and John Wright two of the successful foreign coaches for India, though were accomplished batsmen were never in the top league of elite batsmen. Take the example of John Buchanan's career as cricketer. Arun has a stellar cricket career compared to Buchanan. But Buchanan as a coach won 2 world cups for Australia. Playing and coaching are entirely different ball games. Amongst the test playing nations, only India (Shastri) and Australia (Darrenn Lehman) at present have coaches who played international cricket.
Re: Why not Venkatesh Prasad or Srinath

Venkatesh Prasad had been India's bowling coach earlier. Major accomplishment of Prasad was he turned the fast bowlers to medium pacers
NO doubt Bharat Arun may have all the virtues of what Mr Shastri is claiming but I would like to him to be fit and trim where he can display his skills as a good bowler and bowling coach.
