Why Shashtri as a coach
by satish kumar on Jul 12, 2017 11:15 AM

It is now clearly come out of coach selection dharama that individual interest is first and game second. Who says that shashtri is a good coach,he is only a interest of dam kohli. All knows that previously MSD insulted now Kumle.
May Indian sports live long.

Famous Idiom- Too many cooks spoil the broth. I don't think there is any need of coach in India as long as Dhoni is there.

Last year all the tests were played on home soil, now the litmus test for this team will start when it starts touring SA,AUS & ENG.Then they will need all the inputs from Dravid & Zaheer.Dhoni\\\'s record overseas as a captain or player is nothing great.

It was decided long back by the top officials and Kohli to select Ravi Shastri as coach but the decision was deferred due to protest against his selection. This is not a Tenis coach that any individual player appoint coach of his choice as he pay his fee from his personal account. What will be the role of this head coach ? This man was below average bowler, boring batsman and the lousy fielder. Which of his current qualities will inspire confidence and respect from the current team full of talented and young players ? Do India has no other ex cricketer to qualify for this post ? May be some undeserving people like Shastri are lucky to hold one or other position in the cricket and earn power, position and perks due to the right contacts and influence at the right place. If Board has enough money, let them appoint individual coach for individual players at the board expenses to please others whom they like to oblige. I don't think Shastri is suitable as " head coach" at his age and based on his abilities. Hats off to Saurav Ganguly for not changing his stand regards Ravi Shastri as Coach as per his earlier stand when he stopped Shastri becoming a coach.

Mr.Shah, you have no facts, only perceptions. Let me list a few facts.
1. It's absolutely idiotic to say that only an excellent Cricketer can be a good Coach. A Coach must be able to man manage, point out problems in a player's technique and plan the strategy vs an opponent. Do you know how Shastri fares on these criteria ? Hope you also remember that the one of the greatest Cricketers of all time, Tendulkar, was a miserable failure as a Captain.

2. Do you know the Win% of Shastri and Kumble as Coaches ? Here are some stats : Tests - Shastri 62%, Kumble 70%; ODIs - S 43%, K 61%; T20s - S 70%, K 40%. In what way are the numbers very different ?

3. Hats off to Sourav Ganguly !! For what ? Because he threw out an excellent Cricketer like Greg Chappell from the position of Coach 10 years ago, because Chappell wanted the players to work on their fitness and work ethic ? Now Ganguly makes some nice speech about the role of a Coach, when he himself had no respect for this position or person.

So Mr.Shah, just chill and don't get carried away by your perceptions/ emotions. The facts are quite different.

Mr.Manna, here's some info for you.
1. It was Ganguly who recommended Chappell as Coach, who took charge sometime in mid 2005.

2. Chappell focused on new talent - brought in Suresh Raina, wanted to give more chances to Yuvraj & Mohd. Kaif. He also wanted seniors like Ganguly/ Tendulkar/ Dravid/ Harbhajan/ Laxman to work on their fitness & work ethic, which was resented by them. Only Dravid understood Chappell's methods and tried to improved relations between the seniors and Chappell, but failed.
3. Ganguly was removed as Captain in end 2005 and from the team in early 2006 by Greg Chappell, as you said. But Ganguly made a comeback to the Indian team in end 2006 and from hereon, relations with Chappell rapidly worsened. With support from Tendulkar & Harbhajan, Ganguly ensured that Chappell was victimised and Chappell quit in April 2007, soon after India got knocked out in the league phase of the World Cup.
Definitely, Tendulkar was a quiet partner in the "Remove Chappell" campaign, but the prime person here was Ganguly.
Please check your facts.

Srinivas, the bias and colour blind man, you are the only person who praise Greig Chappel when even a gentleman cricketer like Tendulkar has criticise Chappel and his worst attitude. Better do your homework before writing on the subject you don't know.

Mr Srinivas, better you use your brain if you hacpve and read myy comments carefully. Whatever I have written is on the basis of facts and not as per my perception as alleged by you. iWhat this Shastri can teach current generation cricketers about improving their technique and strategy when he is not master in even one. As far as Saurav Ganguly is concerned, your comments are totally bias against him without knowing his qualities and no one will agree with your totally bias statement without any application of brain.

BCCI blundered in selectimg Shastri and bowing to the wishes of Kohli. A dangerous precedence has been set. Shastri is not a coach of any caliber. It is the question of you scratch my back and I will scratch your back between the coach and captain. Rot has started setting in.

King Kohli Reigns over BCCI
by himamshu on Jul 12, 2017 02:41 AM  | Hide replies

Earlier BCCI were Bowing Down in Front of Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar - Now it is King Kohli's Turn to Wield his Prowess over BCCI and Dictate his Terms - BCCI will just Wag its tail and Dance to King Kohli's Orders and Commandments !!

However The Bandwagon will see its End during Away Test Series in Australia, England, South Africa & new Zealand !!

2019 World Cup Defeat might Cut Short either King Kohli's career or Ravi Shastri's post as a coach in another 2 years from now.
