Murali Vijay is not consistent. Failing in 4 innings after scoring century. Mukund showed his consistency in Local matches.
Rahane is far better player than Karun Nair.
But Karun Nair has got edge over Rahane because he score 300 in last test which cannot be ignored even though he failed in couple of matches in Ranji & Duleep trophies played for Karnataka & Rest of India.
Hence this is the right chance for him to show his talent.
Jayant Yadav should play. Because he proved well both in batting & bowling.
Tough fight between Ishant & Bhubaneshwar.
Even though Ishant is senior in the side he has not giving any break through. But Bhunbaneshwar also struggling to take wickets. He is good against Australia. Still tough selection between Ishant & Kumar.
Umesh Yadav is better of the three pace bowlers. He has a bad luck because so many catches being dropped in his bowling. He has got good pace, so he has to work hard.
But Pandya has to wait. If Kohli feels that India has to field 3 pacers then Pandya get the chance.
Amit Mishra not contributed any thing during the Test Series both against England & NZ. Hence he has to sit out. According Playing XI is.

Why not Roger Binny? And perhaps Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar,Farokh Engineer, EAS Prasanna, Bishen Singh Bedi etc?
