kohli is defensive

I fully agree with the gentlemen that Kohli does not attack enough with close-in fielders. I remember a test match at Chennai against England. On the 5th day of the match with a deficit of almost 300 runs to save the match, Kohli started the day with only one slip. Guess what happened - the first ball of Ashwin hit Cook's bat and bowl and ballooned towards forward short leg where there was no fielder. I was scratching my head even with 300 runs deficit he started the day very defensively. No wonder he has luck that Jadeja & Ashwnin are world class spinner and equally class pace bowling attack. I can safely bet that strategically he has not a brilliant captain but the players are following his leadership qualities and we can see that none of the players are playing for themselves and/or record. There is no selfishness in them. If only Kohli is far more imaginative captain

Captaincy is bad

just 2 slips. An outside edge went thru 3 slip. I dont know why Slip cordon was not full when runs were concern. Dhoni started this - keeping slip cordon empty and virat following same. Similarly there were 2 catchers near bat for spinner. Why not let batman try to take on spin, there chances of making mistake increases as we saw dickwella alomost stumped. SA, AUS, NZL and ENG always keep slip cordon full for their quicks. Even in India forget about their country.

if runs were not concern build pressure by surrounding batsman with fielder. I have rarely seen both forward shortleg and silly point simulataneous positioned. I would have expected 4 players surrounding batsman atleast. Anyway they scored 50s why not lure them to attack and get them make mistake. Chandimal got out playing false shot and dickwella almost. Still we had longon patrolling boundary. Why kohli was trying to save boundary when there was no fear of losing. Was he expecting lankans to hit straight 6. If yes then let them so that one mistake and you get wicket. Too defensive out captains are. By making crowd clap you dont get wickets. Missied chances - dickwella stumping on jaddu ball, backward shortleg not there to take catch which weant thru begging on ashwins ball of rupen, dickwella hitting and ball going thru 3rd slip at waste hieght.

The statement of Chetan Pujara is amazing .Does he mean to say that our spinners will only good on supportive pitches .Maybe they have to learn a leasson from Muttiah Murlidharan on how to bowl in unfamiliar conditions.India got ground by the young Srilankans.See a difficult series in SA
