Most ordinary soldiers in the Indian army,
by piri on Apr 13, 2017 11:04 PM  | Hide replies

just as in the Paki army, have a common grudge burning in them right through their careers in the armed forces. Which is their grudge against many of their officer superiors who treat them like dirt !

The British Indian army had two distinct layers of soldiers in terms of their entitlements, viz, highly privileged officers who were all almost always Englishmen and the much bigger layer of ordinary soldiers who were all Indians and who served as the vast underclass.

The English sahabs generally treated their Indian subordinates with sheer contempt and called them derisively as natives, making these soldiers wait on them for their all their personal chores and ordering them about like slaves.

Yet, impoverished Indian natives flocked to join the British Indian army because the pay and allowances were far better than those given by the innumerable Indian Rajahs and Nawabs to the soldiers in their armies. In terms of slavery and exploitation of jawans, the Indian monarchs were almost always far worse than the British.

This long inbred culture of exploitation of ordinary jawans by their officer superiors continues to this day in several subtle and not so subtle ways. Matters are hardly helped by successive union governments that pay pittances as salaries to ordinary soldiers. The argument is that the Indian nation does not have the resources to pay the Jawans their due. But considering how rapacious thieves in the form of croxny capitalists have always been allowed to rip off

state and natural assets worth lakhs of crores every year, the argument of scarce resources to deny justice to ordinary soldiers appears in sharp contrast.

Lately, this cynical and callous treatment of jawans by the Indian government is sought to be couched under platitudes praising jawans to the skies for their valour, sacrifice and patriotism. The government hopes to avoid giving the soldiers their due by sounding very patronizing about them !

Jawan and Azaadi
by prikhshayat singh on Apr 13, 2017 09:43 PM

Our Jawan being humiliated, but why?
Use of soft kid gloves has never solved any problem where the complexion of problem is at the hands of sick-minded people who require entirely a different approach with minimum leverage of being lax. Many a times it seems things are moving/slipping out of hand, though they are not but impression is created likewise. Therefore issues which were vitiated in late forties (twentieth century)and since then every rising day we were getting up with a hope that may be the new day will be a good day for the mother land. But no, after the tide (a wave of unpleasant, unholy, un-nationalistic move) is over the Kashmir issue comes out with new complexion (new head). We can’t be oblivious of the history, seventy years is not a small period for developing country. How can we be bracketed among developed Nations, when every morning News Paper comes up with attack on our forces (Military or paramilitary). Demand of the introspection is change our strategy altogether and let the message go, we are no-soft people as for as our mother land honour and integrity is concerned. More so Jammu Province people are more in need of Azaadi than Kashmir, where over the years demography of Jammu province is under change systematically. PS Ghushoo Sambyal

These ungrateful people should be shunted out to countries where people starve for food and make them beg for their return.
