Yes , Gambhir no doubt was a good player at one point of time but now he has passed his prime . Also , there are three good players for opening slot ie Vijay , Rahul & Dhawan . So there is no place for him as of now until someone fails miserably repeatedly .
Also at 34 , his age is not on his side .
And moreover , he cannot be compared or replaced with MSD OR Rohit Sharma as Gambhir is no way near to them .
MSD & Rohit Sharma are proven players in any format & under any conditions .
MSD & Rohit can even play upto 40 , as like Sachin played , but Gambhir not even upto 35 .

It is indeed sad that Gautam Gambhir is not selected for the New Zealand test series even after performing well consistently. People like Shikhar Dhawan, Stuart Binny and Rohit Sharma get multiple chances despite flopping consistently. Lodha committee is right in suggesting a 3-member selection committee to do away with zonal preferences. There is no transparency in the selection process when the best available talent does not represent the country.
You at 34. Please leave the field for other younger players. Why are you entertaining such unreasonable ambitions. You can keep scoring in domestic matches. You were tested and tried many times. Your shelflife has expired for international level. Be grace and generous for the sake of youngsters. Rohit & Shikar Diwan may fail... But realise there are lot of youngsters are knocking the doors from different parts of India.

Dhoni is protected. Otherwise the list involving players in betting should have been opened by Supreme Court long back. He continues to place bets. See how he gave a simple catch of the last ball to lose the WI T20 match in Florida. E prevented Rahul from running for a third run the previous ball
Shikhar dhawan is the worst test player but due to back up of his closed friend Kholi he got chance.Sorry Gabhir its atime of oiling and buttering. Mera desh Mahan 100 mein 99 corrupt(Baiman).

so if everybody is corrupt why are you complaining? just look at it as instead of A corrupt you got B corrupt...either way you are going to get a corrupt anyway...
Gambhir being a pucca Delhiite displayed his anger on his own team mates, which will never be tolerated by the team and the selectors. Anger is always bad for you. You can't have enmity with fish if you want to stay in water !

Gambhir was ICC cricketer of the year twice. He is better batsman technically and reliability wise compared to Dhawan and Rohit. He sided with Sehwag and was his chum. Hence not in Dhoni,s good books. Both did not play along in the dirty games of Dhoni and Srinivasan who chose Patil as chief selector.

very well said...he WAS a very good batsmen in all three formats...but not ANYMORE...
also no point in going back to him when there are 3 openers who are doing well vijay dhawan and rahul...also since 2011 he has always performed badly in tests whenever given chance...
