Why this question when he himself answered? If he bats down the order, he gets less chance either to bat or to score. Again he will be criticized for not scoring big runs. Finishers like MSD don't have the luxury to settle down and then start scoring. By the time they come to the crease, most of the times, the slog overs would have begun and they must throw their bat to each and every ball. If they succeed, praises are heaped on them. If they fail even few times, we start scrutinising them, their capabilities to "finish off"... I would say it is 5tup1d to pose this question by Rediff, even after MSD discussed the reasons for his self-promotion in the batting order.

Welcome to 2016 where the only sensible thing from him would be to come up the order and give up on a higher average. Oh wait, he should not be questioned! L0L
And there are SOME FOOLS & insane Media persons who says - - MSD has passed his prime , he’s a waste now , he must retire gracefully or he should hand over the captaincy to Kohli etc etc - -
SUCH A VERSATILE PLAYER , EVEN IF HE OPENS THE INNINGS , HE WON'T FAIL . HENCE PROVED - - -
If anyone still thinks that Saha , Sanju Samson , DK or Ojha can can replace MSD in ODI/20-20 , then they are STU_PIDS .
( May be somneone can replace MSD in Tests but not in ODI or 20-20 where pressure is immense )
Same way with Rohit Sharma , he is such a excellent batsman but unfortunately could not able to score from last few games . But he will surely come back strongly soon .

Shilpa your assessment is incorrect , especially that of Rohit Sharma. He has got a mountain of chances , but he is plain lazy & not at all a thinking cricketer .He will not reach anywhere. You can mark my word for that . As for Dhoni , he powers are waning & have waned a lot .He is determined , but as it happens with everyone , age is fast catching up on him & his reflexes as far as batting is definitely on the wane. As for the comparisons you made with Samson etc , time will tell.

What? Rohit will come back? When? After playing 10 matches. How many chance can be given only to one person to perform? Keep on giving the chances even after several failures? When they drop so many players for not performing then this should apply to Rohit & Mahi also. Dhoni scored 50 after 1 year only. He is tired nowadays. Only with innings you cannot come to the conclusion. Now, players like Sanju Samson, Ishant Pant are promising youngsters, & capable of hitting runs in the slog overs. Even though great players like Yuvraj, Gambhir, Suresh Raina being dropped, then why not apply to Dhoni & Rohit, Rahane. If this much of chances would have to given to Yuvraj, Gambhir & Raina, they can win so many chances. Hence it is time for selectors to replace Dhoni & Rohit.
