ASHWIN HAS TO PROVE HIMSELF OVERSEAS
by damodaran mohan on Oct 12, 2016 02:32 PM

Anyway 10 more Home Tests are to be played and Ashwin will get enough opportunity to prove himself at home at least. But the main criticism is his poor overseas record and it is now for Ashwin to silence the critiques in the next available opportunity. But the fact remains that so far on overseas tournament if I am not wrong Ashwin has played only two series--part Aus series and first full WI series under Kohli's captaincy otherwise mostly he has played under Dhoni's captaincy. In WI Ashwin was man of series in overseas but still we could wait for Ashwin to prove himself overseas w/o getting carried away by mostly home successes to pass any judgment. However fact remains the defensive captaincy of Dhoni was one of the factors responsible for Ashwin's average performance even in home conditions where too Ashwin's performance have seen remarkable improvement.

BORED TO SCROLLDOWN
by Varun on Oct 11, 2016 08:26 AM

Some people here think they are beyond Cricket and start blabbering whatever they feel like. As a simple human being, appreciate when something happens good and still appreciate the effort when something goes wrong, and that's how you are called a gentleman. Don't try to act as if others are going to applaud your sarcastic comments and carry away with you

Ashwin - Yet to prove his mettle
by Harish Srivats on Oct 10, 2016 11:29 PM

Ashwin has done well for himself. I dont think we can question his commitment to the Indian team. Blame it on BCCI perhaps, we dont seem to get lot many test matches OUTSIDE of India. There seems to be some concern there. Only if the BCCI arranges more test matches outside the country, our players can really prove their mettle - be it a batsman or a bowler. Blaming Ashwin (or any other player with respect to Batting or bowling) per se may not be 100% right. New Zealand, Sri Lanka, South Africa are some of the countries where our mettle can really be tested. We are playing regularly with Australia - Gavaskar Border cup, but would like to see India beat Australia in Australia. Hope this happens in the upcoming tour of Australia in 2017.

When Legend like Gavaskar praises a bowler, whether you accept or not is the reality.Do you have any experience as a cricketer in Test match? If layman can comment on players, Legends definitely can comment on a bowler. What credential you have to comment on Legends like Gavaskar?

As usual,

many sections of the Indian media are going overboard over the presumed all conquering attributes of yet another Indian bowler.

What they omit to highlight is the fact that just 2 of Ashwins 20 5 wicket hauls have come outside the sub continent - both against the severely emaciated West Indian team !

The golden fleece at present for any bowler is consistently good performances in Australia and South Africa. And the country has to wait a while to see whether Ashwin can be equal to that task !

threatening on Indian Pitches!!
by w a on Oct 10, 2016 09:14 PM  | Hide replies

It's nice to see he is performing well and look threatening all time but that is only on Indian Pitches, when we go abroad, he looks very oridinary bowler and could not get wickets, he has to learn alot to perform outside India too!! He is not youngster anymore, he already with the team since 2011...So it's hard to keep in the same league like Srinath, Kumble, Kapil Paa Ji and Z.Khan.

True ... but at least he is able to get wickets in India .. others are not able to do that .. even in the last match Jadeja took only the lower order wickets. Amit Mishra or Ojha are better bowlers than Jaddu ...

Ashwin is a phenomenon
by Mike Teflon on Oct 10, 2016 07:44 PM  | Hide replies

Champion material Ashwin has exceeded all expectations. In only 39 tests he has taken 210 wkts.

A consistent performer and a match-winner, he can easily eclipse Anil Kumble as the highest wicket taker for India..
