Tamasha by judges
by Rajendran Ganesan on Oct 07, 2016 10:48 AM  | Hide replies

I think these judges are doing this on BCCI out of jealousy that so much money is being earned by cricket, cricketers, BCCI while these judges earn peanuts. They are out to kill professional cricket in the name of protecting it. Goats trust only the butchers and similarly we the people only believe these courts.

You are absolutely right. What started in 2013 was an investigation into the Spot fixing/ Betting scandal. However it expanded to the BCCI's working and whatever the SC/ Mr.Lodha felt like adding up. Granted that there is need for a cleanup in the BCCI, esp. financial propriety, but the SC is going beyond its domain.

What is the SC's competency to decide on One State-One Vote, 3 or 5 members in the Selection panel, Ads between overs or between innings (thankfully this recommendation was scrapped) etc. ? While the BCCI could have avoided this situation by atleast implementing some of the recommendations, it is now clearly a case of the SC over-doing its judicial activism.

Nothing as been overdone by the SC. If there are people who feel it is being overdone, then so be it. BCCI is a home of crooks like Sharad Pawar & many like him in the past.
It was high time that the mess was cleaned up.
Let the SC decide what to do & if they dont agree put all the officials of BCCI behind bars. This will teach them a lesson.
When the situation gets tough , all these politicians will run away, like rats leaving a sinking ship.

Authority of Supreme Court
by Hari Indian on Oct 07, 2016 10:31 AM  | Hide replies

The duty of Supreme Court is to uphold the law of the land. Does Supreme Court have the authority to decide upon administrative matters, so long as the activities are being held within the four walls of the law. Are the Supreme Court or the Lodha committee acting within their powers to decide upon the scheduling of the cricket matches. Are they within the powers to decide how BCCI should use the funds earned by them without any government support.

My friend, The BCCI says it is registered in Tamil Nadu and has its own rules and regulations. Fine. On the one hand they claim that they are a private body. If so, who has given them the right to lord over all forms of India, including selection of the National Team? Who has given them right to declare that only they can conduct IPL-like tournaments? Remember, how they bullied, threatened and banned cricketers who had signed up for a rival league? BCCI's earning comes from the people and hence is answerable to the courts of law of the land.

If they had bullied, it was their capability. Who is not bullying. Are you not bullying your subordinates. Honestly take a minute and think how you address your subordinates and how they address you. In whole of India, only bullying is going on and Supreme court is a master of that. All loud mouths and no substance.

The SC is going over-board. Let's not forget that Indian Cricket is very healthy and Cricketers are very well paid, for which full credit has to be given to the BCCI.

Hence, is this the priority for the SC ? Anything the BCCI does, Mr.Lodha & the SC react immediately in a very negative way. Have they ever shown such speed in clearing the crores of cases pending for ages ? Isn't that more important ?

Bcoz whatever they do is to circumvent the law of the land, full of hypocrites & corrupt guys , who are only interested in self-interest , not the interest of the game .
Such officials & organisation should be cleaned up , however big the officials are.
