i just wonder how many people on this forum will back a batsman whose stats after his 4 years in international cricket read- 20 tests 31 innings 1085 runs I also wonder how many people on this forum will support a batsman whose stats after 5 years in international cricket read- 19 tests 33 innings 834 runs

Plus Saha too is great prospect in the test matches. He is a gritty player.

44-4 and even 106-6. If India would have got bundled for even 130-140 it would have become even contest atleast. The advantage of lead would have gone. But now its almost sure victory. Dont demean the value of his inning. Tough condition he batted well. We don't remeber Gavaskar for 205 on flat bombay wicket against WI but for 96 on rank turner in his last test. He is now fitting well into team. Once KL Rahul is back as opener in place of Dhawan who is niether performer and not talented, we have one of the best balanced Indian team.
talented batsmen are given many chances...nothing wrong in that....even the talented batsmen of earlier generation like srt and vvs were given so many chances...they consistently failed for 4 years in international cricket...but because they were considered talented they were given too many chances...

in his first 4 years in international cricket....his stats and rohit sharma stats are very similar...rohit sharma completed his 1000 test runs in his 19th test...similary srt also completed his 1000 test runs in his 19th test...

In India or outside India? If what I have read is true, as kid, he smacked the greatest leg spinner of that time, Abdul Qadir for quite afew sixes, in Pakistan, plus scored an 80 odd inNew Zealand, in his very first series there, against Richard Hadlee. His best performance were against quality bowling, ouside the sub continent.

My question was, when did Sachin fail consistently for 4 years in international cricket.
Because you have said above , I quote, ".even the talented batsmen of earlier generation like srt and vvs were given so many chances...they consistently failed for 4 years in international cricket."

As far as VVS is concerned, he was forced to open, in the absence of a regular opener and kept failing, but the moment he was made no.3 he started scoring, rest is history.

My favourite? How do you know? He is the one who brought names like Dhoni, Zaheer, Sehwag, VVS to the fore.
The only under whose captaincy India beat Pakistan in Pakistan, may be from now till eternity.
Ganguly always experimented, he forced Sehwag to open, and it paid off like so many other things.
