WHY?
by Nanda PK on Mar 09, 2016 11:44 PM  | Hide replies

Every cricketing shot has been played by some one "First time." When all these has not been associated with name of the player who first played it, why only one is named after a player. Further, if my recollection is correct, this shot was first played by Doglous Mariller of Zimbave, and not Dilshan.

Agreed. I also watched that match. It is not correct to give credit to dilshan for this shot.

True that!!! much the same way they keep giving dhoni credit for the helicopter shot whereas i distinctly remember tendulkar playing that shot a couple of times in the 1999 world cup in england muuuch before dhoni..... but this is era of marketing be that the truth or lies!!!! "jo bikta hai wohi likhta hai"

Yup It was an India vs Zim match at Faridabad in 2001. Zahir Khan was clueless against that shot and its variation when Dougie moved at least 3-4 feet outside off stump and sort of pulled it while facing the square leg umpire. It was the first and only match which I watched in a stadium
