Coach is a must. ITs a responsibility to build and get out best from each team member. There must be third eye even practicing . As well every can have their views and ideas which are to co ordinated and fix as Strategies. Welcome Kumble and very all the best for India Team
Normally seldom all teams win games all the time. If the team/a player performs better at one particular tour we used to speak high about and create a pressure and expectations on the mind. If fails, criticize bad as well. Any how as of date India has been better when compared some 20 years ago. A coach should be a guide, a manager, a planner and a morale boaster and not to be dominator at any point of time.

Coach has huge roles to play to guide a team. Just compare what John Wright-Kirsten did with what Duncun Flecher did as coach and you will gain some cricketing knowledge. BTW no coach in this universe can make Raina,Rohit,Dhawan,Yuvi etc. a true test player
Undoubtedly Kumble is the best out of the available.However the why he was preferred over Shastri was not answered. Good it has not selected Shastri who is a big politician and high handed
Kumble\'s activities speaks volume. An unassuming great who was recognized by world through his achievements and not through media monitoring. He will turnaround any organization where he joins. Indian team will certainly scale heights under his Guidance.
The replies given by Anurag Thakur as to why Kumble was preferred over Ravi Shastry are intriguing to say the least. We have no doubt that he was a match winner and he is the highest wicket taker etc. but they are all irrelevant for the job to be done.You have finalised two candidates one with demonstrated ability to mentor and coach the team and another some sort of a greenhorn at this job, and you have finalised the latter. So there must be strong reasons, why don't you spell them out. Anyway best of luck to Kumble, BCCI and, the cricket team.

Dear RSS, with or without Kumble dominance at home will continue. Else, Indias test ranking will be lower than West Indies
