Stats comparison can be misleading - anderson breaks mcgrath records of most number of wickets by a pacer in home conditions. in mcgrath's case there were always 4 quality bowlers in the aussi team of which 3 are pacers and one legendary spinner warne. mcgrath, bretlee and Gillespie and warne had to share the wickets among themselves and all were strike bowlers. where as anderson just had broad to share the wickets. there was always more chance for for anderson to get more wickets. had there been 3 strike bowlers of the same quality as australian pace bowlers and lethal spinner like warne in england team i dont think anderson would be able to break mcgrath's record.
