Dhoni should step down
by Vishwajay Chakravarty on Jan 21, 2016 09:08 AM

If Dhoni has any self respect and integrity, he should step down as captain. He has been losing series after series and has horrible record away from home. Yet he continues and keeps making excuses after each defeat. Captains have been removed after one series defeat but this guy has so much clout, no one can show him the door unless he himself chooses to go!! And as a true Indian cricketer he will never do so..

There was something amiss about Indian Innings

As a keen follower of Indian , I was very disappointed by the way India folded in today's ODI. But there is something about this match I'm not sure I can get over, a nagging thought that something is amiss. Let me see if my fellow fans agree. First, Dhawan, 10 mins prior was trying to play to almost get out, so much Ian Healy predicted his dismissal. Then Dhoni started to walk even before Wade took the catch, see replay. Rahane was injured and he couldn't play well, but what intrigued me was his lack of mannerisms, like Nadal that he does before every ball all his matches. Then Jadeja plays an un-characteristic knock where he didn't defend the tail. Warner said something to B Kumar when he walked out to bat and he was trying to guide the ball into Wk/slips. Finally Kohli got out to soft dismissal following Dhoni. He doesn't select Ashwin anymore even though pitch is conducive. I'm not sure if everything is ok with the Indian dressing room. The power struggle between Shastri / Dhoni / selectors has already spilled over to the media, I think it is getting to the players too because the other thought I have is horrendous and can't possibly be- considering the heat the bookies have at the current AUS open, hope they have not spilled over to Canberra to lie low for the time being. Watch at least reply before trash talking me.

Baba, i also feel a lot amiss in the mass. I went to sleep after confirming India's win. I think India did not want to win this match. We had a best chance to win against ever weak Australian bowling.

about Jadejas innings, our tail was good with Buvneshwar and Ishant. I don't think there was any need to defend it unless it comes to #11

Why did Dhoni want to lose this match? Any idea?

The way later batsmen threw their wickets to shots in the air when the asking rate was only 6 , signifies that they are going to show the door to Dhoni and hand over to Kohli. It is only a matter of time - may be after T20 World Cup - as Dhoni is already named as Captain for that.

There is a general thinking that Strategy is coach and tactical execution is Captain. I'm not saying this happened but Dhoni's duck exposed India's complete lack of finisher, a powerful message to selectors don't you think? Ofcourse irate fans exist but they don't make selection decisions. Next game we might see a Dhoni like he played against Pak once. Fans will be back to praising him, message to selectors - indispensability. But a 4-1 record is still bad against a coach ! !
