why Bhuvaneshwar dropped
by Ravi Kiran on Jan 16, 2016 11:22 PM

Bhuvaneshwar was the only economical bowler in the 1ST ODI by giving 42 runs in his 10 overs whereas all other bowlers have given 60 runs in their quota of 10 overs. He was dropped for the 2nd ODI. So I want to ask Dhoni how can he win by making such foolish mistakes. In Australian conditions you need economical bowlers to defend scores of 250 or 300 . Start including Bhuvaneshwar from the 3rd ODI. Also we have to have 4 or even 5 fast bowlers in the playing XI like the Australians are doing. There is no use of Spinners in Australia except in Sydney.

Blaming bowers isn't fair
by Ramakrishna Ramakrishna on Jan 16, 2016 06:08 PM

The pitches are dead like our indian pitches. We should score 350 runs to win on such tracks just like in india. Australian bowlers didn't do well either....
it's just the tight fielding of Australians and a bit of discipline by the bowlers in the end had helped them.
So, Mr Dhoni, Please talk to the whole team and see that you are performing as a team and don't blame bowlers alone!!!

Dhoni and bowlers!
by changu on Jan 16, 2016 05:46 PM

Dhoni is captain of the team. He can transfer the pressure of batsmen to bowler or vise-versa. Indian bowlers are being treated like college / club team bowlers.
Fast bowler generally gets angry when hit. Spinners fool batsmen. Australians seem to read minds of our bowlers. It's psychological advantage or they are inducing our bowlers to bowl they want. Captain needs to think and inspire some thinking in them unless of course, practising excuses match after match.
If there are takers, simple advice is - being predictable is weakness of our bowlers!

MAKE CHANGES TO THE INDIAN PASSENGERS(8) XI.

One redeeming feature inspite of loss was improved captaincy by Dhoni in the 2nd match. However frankly looking at our bowlers and long Aussies batting lineup even 330 will not be enough on these wickets but I concede min 330-340 are needed to put that extra pressure. But given that after Rohit,Virat and Rahane make 250 runs the rest are able to add just 50-60 runs who is going to add the extra 30 runs Mr Dhoni ? Batters available are Dhoni,Jadeja and a new man in place of Suresh Raina besides the tail. And what happens if one of the top 3 fail ? can India manage 250 even ?Add to that bowlers woes who are not bowling well including Ashwin. If the No1 bowler can't deliver there is no way pacers are going to be the winners for India. Whatever India's major odd wins oversea in the past have come they have come mainly due to spinners like Kumble, Bhajji etc. and in future also it has to come through good spinners. Jadeja may be a good all rounder but he is not a genuine spinner and not a reliable bat too.So Ashwin has to be backed overseas longer for his adapting and another genuine spinner like Amit Mishra is needed. Besides younger all-rounder like Gurukeerat who can bat better than Jadeja have to be given chance for that extra 30-runs in the end. Given that India might lose any way next changes become essential.I think in the next match Gurukeerat should be played preferably in place of Jadeja or in place of Ashwin should Dhoni chose to as Ashwin too has been disappo

(contd.)..Ashwin too has been disappointing. Changes have to be made with 8 passengers in the playing XI. Another observation is it looks both Ishant and Umesh are not giving their best for whatever reasons. Capt. Dhoni will have to find out.

bat second
by NAGRAJ KV on Jan 16, 2016 02:54 PM

when we lost the first match... Dhoni could have realised that we cannot restrict the opposition with this bowling.. so bat second..

WEAK BOWLING
by Shilpa Mehta on Jan 16, 2016 01:40 PM  | Hide replies

300 plus total is not at all a small total on any wicket .

Bowlers & fielders MUST be able to defend that . If your bowlers cannot defend 300 plus that surely means bowling & fielding is weak .

How much do you expect from your batsman to score every time ?? 350 or 400 ??

Every time your batsman cannot score that , opposition bowling is not that weak .

And what will MSD do if bowlers do not perform ?? Should he remove his gloves & start bowling ?

My advise for Mr. Dhoni is that he must resign now and given priority for youngsters in India. He is blocking them.

Exactly. He must resign now. If he doesn't, selectors should drop him from the team. We want a captain who can captain well and not just give excuses after each defeat.

right but not completely
by amit on Jan 16, 2016 01:17 PM

Yes dhoni sir, you are correct in saying so but not completely right.
Imagine after runout of rohit sharma, we coudnt make runs at all at pace which was required. We cant blame blowers for that.
Middle order seems to be of no use. we are not able to score 10 runs / over in last 6 overs.

Hope against hope
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Jan 16, 2016 07:17 AM

Our fast bowlers are just about as good as the Aussie rookie attack or an Aussie club side. Added to that our fielding in both ODIs was worse than Ranji class - so what do we expect ? Maybe at the MCG, there'll be some spin and we won't miss sitters in the field. Amen.

Dhoni past his best!

Retire him! Indian cricket suffers so long he selects his favorites and continues with them.
