Bogus argument of the Sri Lanka cricket board chief
by soumyen sarkar on Feb 27, 2016 11:52 PM

I think, the Sri Lanka Cricket Chief has poor sense of ethics and logic of professional world. He is against Mahela Jayawardene's taking up mentor's job for English T-20 team because the just retired maestro can give the dressing room inside stories to England which will be useful against Sri Lanka. Nothing can be more ridiculous than this. He says, there should be at least two year cooling period after retirement, before a player takes up coaching job for another country. The English Cricket Board are certainly more professional than the SLC administration. If they had taken Mahela, why Sri Lanka did not appoint him earlier ? Why Mahela or likes of Arvind De Silva, Gurusinghe etc are not getting enough cricket job and money in Sri Lanka? How does the SLC chief expects ex-players to comply with his desire by sacrificing their future? If he was so thorough , why did not he insert a clause in contract with senior players and give them adequate compensation? In football, such things happen so frequently that nobody in the profession objects. Why the Sri Lanka cricket chief is objecting? Is it because he is being criticized for his failure to hold back Mahela for Sri Lanka? Sri Lanka is a small country. So, their cricket organizations may not be able to give proper remuneration. But when Mahela is showing the way, why this gentleman is objecting? Does he think SLC and ENG will play T-20 final and SL will lose the trophy for Mahela only?
