Why Kohli can not be compared to Tendulkar, Gavaskar
by tejas on Feb 21, 2016 09:15 AM  | Hide replies

Some people here are saying that Virat Kohli is the better batsman than Tendulkar. I will explain to you why he isn't.

Just don't go by the runs they score. When you consider the best batsmen of all time you must have to consider QUALITY OF THE BOWLING ATTACK these batsmen had faced while scoring their runs.

With no disrespect to Kohli, I think the quality of bowling attack which he has been facing is way below average than the quality of bowling attack Tendulkar faced during his era.

Tell me one bowler which is playing today has the calibre, the quality, the talent, the greatness, the threat of the likes of Wasim Akram, Younis, Mushtaq, Akhtar, Macgrath, Lee, Warne, Muralidharan, Vaas, Bond, Donald, Kallis, Ambrose, Walsh, Jimmy Anderson etc.

Tendulkar have successfully faced all these all time great bowlers while scoring his runs.
With due respect to Kohli, the quality of fast bowling as well as spin bowling has deteriorated considerably nowadays, so scoring is much more easier & you also have to take into consideration the fact that the PITCHES especially in the countries like Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, England are becoming more & more batting friendly nowadays which makes current batsmen's life much easier than what it was used to be during the tenure of Tendulkar.
Furthermore, let Virat Kohli score in all countries like England, South Africa, New Zealand in test matches consistently to call himself even closer to the level of Tendulkar.

And what Sunil Gavaskar faced during his time was even more worse.

Gavaskar had scored majority of his runs in West Indies on some of the fastest & toughest pitches of all time against THE GREATEST FAST BOWLERS WHO HAD EVER PLAYED THE GAME like ANDY ROBERTS, COLIN CRAFT, JOEL GARNER, MICHAEL HOLDING, MALCOLM MARSHALL etc.

And also against the likes of DENNIS LILLY, JEFF THOMPSON, RICHARD HADLEE, WASIM AKRAM, IMRAN KHAN. IAN BOTHAM, BOB WILLIS etc.

Majority of today's generation don't even know many of the above bowlers & the quality, the greatness, the threat they possess & how difficult it was to play against them.
Gavaskar had scored his runs without even playing the helmet against these bowlers & scored 34 centuries in his career, majority of which came in West Indies on the most bouncy, fast wickets. He helped us single handedly to WIN & DRAW majority of the tests against them.

NO WONDER WHY, THE ALL TIME GREATS LIKE SIR VIV RICHARDS, IMRAN KHAN, SIR GARRY SOBERS ETC. RATES GAVASKAR AS THE BEST BATSMAN THEY HAVE SEEN.

How Ridiculous
by crusaderzz on Feb 21, 2016 09:08 AM

How ridiculous!!
He was someone who always played for records not for the winning cause of India.
One can recall the incident involving Rahul David declaring when he was in his nineties.
This man was taking all the time to ensure he scores a century, while the Indian teamwas looking to have adequate time to bowl out the opposition.

I agree he is great. But now it is his time to do service to the nation and poor people ( not based on Caste), he has to donate his major earning in advertisement money to the public. Being a Bharata Ratna we are proud of him and his service to the nation is required

Just few days back he said Lara is ahead of Sachin and now when he is appointed mumbai coach for Mumbai India, he is all praise for Sachin.

JacQues Kallis was much better match winner than Tendulkar as his average was more and won via his bowling
