Damage has already been done

An entire tub full cannot retrieve what the drop took way

There is no point in winning the series 2-1 against this amateur Shri Lankan team, which is by far their weakest team over the years, with all their senior & veteran players are either retired or injured ( Matthews, Dilshan, Malinga, Herath etc.)

So, if we win anything less than 3-0 against them, then it's like consolation in the end.

Yesterdays defeat was like :

Roger Federer playing versus Yuki Bhambri or Somdev Devvarman on Centre Court of Wimbledon and ends up losing in straight sets.

Weakest team or not, they gave the champs the boot, and dethroned them from the No.1 position.

After playing so many years in all format Gavaskar remained LITTLE only. Last week he has praised a lot especially Bumrah etc. He must know skills in playing cricket changed a lot and he is primary school teacher of old day cricket.

We know how Gavaskar played his ODI matches. Leave your criticism and let the players perform upto their potential and India should do well without undermining any team.

The time has arrived Now. Throw this Game into Dustbin. India with its abject poverty, malnutrition, pathetic infrastructure and lots of other ills, can ill afford this game.Pandering to few people, wasting tons of money, time and resources is criminal wastage.

Your suggestion is 100 per cent correct. After lost first game, our team has defeated the opponents past. So let us think positive and hopefor the best.

Poor team selection
by Guru RamRahimDsuza on Feb 10, 2016 02:41 PM

Ajinkya Rahane- Not a T20 player (at least not in middle order)

Shikhar Dhawan- Can't score more than 20 runs

Yuvraj Singh- Past his prime (may cause another early exit from WC T20 for India)

Raina- Can bat on flat tracks only

Jadeja- Can't hit the ball

and finally MSD- Please retire gracefully

Better for him & his career.

After she THREW HIM ON ROAD as you called it, he started performing better.

So, he should rather thank her for that.

And, I have a doubt if any normal girl will stay with Kohli because he is highly hot-headed, impulsive person always swearing & angry. Throwing abuses on smallest of the things.

WAKE UP CALL
by ASHKO KUMAR on Feb 10, 2016 01:41 PM  | Hide replies

I don't agree with Gavaskar that thisw is a wake up call.Time and again we have seen that our team after a big victory becomes complacent and go to the bottom most level in the next tournament..what is required is consistency which is lacking in every player. For T20 and ODIs BCCI must train few well built up(physically) batsmen to international level...we have seen time & again, even mishits with powerful arms converted into boundaries.
So Mr Gavaskar--in the meantime advise our players to be focussed and not to get high headed after just one victory.

Gentleman,I am not a KG student but expressing my experience..Take exmp[le of Viv Richards,Clive Llyod,Macullum,Daweyn Smith,Guptyl and many more, they were all physically strong men, even their mishits were converted into boundaries, there must be 2 such players in a team.So guy go thru the history and dont just comment leisurly.

@ Ashok Kumar,

Yes what you are saying is partly right. India miss one of those physically strong person in the middle order who on his day can turn the game on it's head like Shane Watson, Andrew Flintoff or Matthew Hayden etc.

But it's not always true that you need to be physically macho to score big. Take the example of A.B. Diviliers he is not masculine but he is athlete & he score his runs merely on great timing of the shot.
Take the example of player like Joe Root or Steve Smith who can score at brisk rate but they are not masculine.

Even players like Ponting, Ganguly, Lara, Gilchrist, Amla are not masculine but they were or are perhaps the best stroke-makers or timers of the bowl.
Most importantly, one needs to have ATHLETIC BODY & QUICK REFLEXES & GREAT TIMING than being MACHO OR BODY-BUILDER to become a great striker or run scorer on consistent basis.
That's why I said you are partly right, it may not always work in your favour.

The first two players that you have mentioned were having very strong built but more importantly they were the great timers of the bowl & supremely talented players.
But the later 3 which you were mentioned, though the great players on their day to watch, they are not reliable to win the matches consistently & can't play quality bowling with that much ease.
