We must play on such pitches if we want to be TRUE CHAMPS
by Hindustani on Feb 10, 2016 11:42 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni always have someone or something to blame or excuse for the failure.

This time it was pitch.

What was the problem if the wicket was so called ENGLISH ?

How Sri Lankan players are accustomed to play on that then?

Before the match, Dhoni was praising his batting line up that how it bats deep & how experienced his batsmen are & how the batting line up has depth & bats till no.8.

Ironically, as it turned out to be, Ashwin the no.8 scored the maximum no. of runs in the entire batting line up.

What is the greatness of Indian batting line up if they are going to display their SO CALLED great performances with the bat & pile on the mountains of runs & creates the personal milestones ON BATTING FRIENDLY PLACID OR PATA PITCHES WITH NO GRASS, NO SWING OR BOUNCE ?
Australian pitches, this time uncharacteristically, were batting paradise with TRUE & EVEN BOUNCE, WITH NO SWING OR PACE where Indian batsmen just had to play on the front-foot, which they are used to on Indian pitches for years, as the bounce was even true but the moment they got even slight tinge of grass on the surface & bowl started to do the talking with uneven bounce & movement after it pitched started to hurried on to the batsmen, our PAPER TIGERS completely surrendered as they were absolutely clueless about how to go at it, they were caught in two minds whether to play on front or back & many times beaten for pace as the bowl was skidding on the pitch & hurried on t

on to them resulting in the top edges.
The credit must go to Shri Lankan bowlers who showed the gutsy performance even in the absence of their ALL EXPERINCED PLAYERS. Their LINE & LENGTH was impeccable.

But having said that, Dhoni & Indian Cricket Board must STOP THIS BLAME GAME ON PITCHES ONCE FOR ALL if they want to become REAL CHAMPIONS or a strong force to recon with in world cricket.

You just can't give excuses each & every time for your failures & in no way on pitches. Some months ago Shastri was blaming Wankhede curator Sudhir Naik for the bad pitch & the loss of the game.

Now Dhoni is blaming this pitch, in fact we must prepare and encourage more & more such pitches rather than the PATA and TURNING PITCHES to prepare our batsmen how to play on such tracks which has been our LONG & INHERITED WEAKNESS & a major contributor to our failures in the past.
Instead of admitting to their catastrophic batting performance Dhoni & Co. always gives excuses for the failure which is REALLY hampering Indian Cricket in the long term.

Dhoni should LEARN SOMETHING FROM THE BEST BATSMAN IN THE WORLD A.B. DEVILIERS, WHO NOT ONCE HAD BLAMED INDIAN PITCHES FOR HIS FAILURES WHEN SA TOURED INDIA RECENTLY, INSTEAD HE ADMITTED HIS WEAKNESS IN BATTING ON SUCH TURNING PITCHES.

Because of IPL bid
by Madhava Rao on Feb 10, 2016 10:56 AM

IPL is the main culprit. The auction of players should have done after the World Cup. Most of the players got crores in a bid, so they are more interested in IPL matches than national game.

NO NEED
by Shilpa Mehta on Feb 10, 2016 10:34 AM  | Hide replies

No need to get disheartened .

It happens , sometimes we may lose to a weak team .

Its a part of the game .

Team India will surely come back strongly in remaining two games & will win 2-1 .

No need to blame the decision to rest Kohli or MSD or any player or even pitch because team was strong even without Kohli .

Dhoni's men are 'dead-pitch bullies'... give them a lively track and they jump around like a cat on a hot tin roof.

rightly said Mr.Tingu. Dhoni's team struggle if there is even slight help for the bowlers on the other hand Dada's team India used to lock horns with Australia on hostile Australian pitches.. Yet some fools compare Dhoni with Dada!!

Poor batting and bowling selection too
by Dinesh wadhwa on Feb 10, 2016 10:28 AM

worse batting and the bowling change decision is also poor. why give raina to bowl when your main bowlers' over was left. Ashwin should introduce earlier. Nehra and Ashwin left with one over each. If they introduce early, then situation may be different. Dhoni gives alwasys surprise for wrong bowling changes.

T 20
by a a on Feb 10, 2016 10:22 AM

in T20 the wicket and conditions should not affect the result that much . Indian team has scored runs on english wickets too . Its just that batting order can be reshuffled if their are doubts about the wicket specially if you have so many all rounders in the team and so much depth in batting .

yes...one is disappointed but once must not feel too bad...you win some times and you lose sometimes...whether against stronger sides or weaker sides...

try to remain balanced in wins and defeats...and not get too emotional either way...

look...i have never said dhoni is responsible 100% for indian wins...neither have i said that players purposely play badly under his captaincy...if you think i think like this what can i do? in fact i defend each and every player who is criticised unfairly...and not only dhoni...

L0L. Speaking about not getting too emotional, I saw an essay by you on how Dhoni was like Sri Krishna in the Mahabharat and all such hysterical statements. I would not mind if you have an explanation about how you were defending him and such fiction. What you do is not my concern. I only meant to say that I dont like to be advised by fanboys.

i am only asking you not to get too bothered by win or loss...and this has got nothing to do with me being a fanboy or not...the advice is not because dhoni is captain...i would say the same thing whether the captain is ganguly or kohli or anybody else...the advice is only from a cricket fan ....not from anybody's fanboy....

Let us see when Kohli or someone else becomes the captain a couple of years later and India loses badly, if you maintain the same stance.

Always Silly.
by kowshika adisheshan on Feb 09, 2016 11:35 PM

Dhoni is always silly. Because he plays Gilli Dand. Instead of resting Kohli, BCCI should have rested Dhoni and taken Robin Uthapa or Wridhiman Saha for Sri Lanka Series.

Silly Excuse... as expected from Indian captain
by dilip bm on Feb 09, 2016 11:27 PM

You lost the match as a captain. Accept the defeat instead of making excuses. As a professional side, if you can't adapt for different conditions, please quit & give chance to others. You win all credit to self..you loose blame the pitch
