WHAT A SHAME
by Shilpa Mehta on Feb 02, 2016 01:08 PM  | Hide replies

Three Nil white wash & that too in their own backyard , AUS cricket team has never got such a humiliating defeat in 140 years of cricket history .

SHAME ON NUMBER ONE TEAM .

They thought they are invincible in this game . Over all these years AUS won just because of unfair means like sledging / mind games / or wrong decisions by umpires .
Nothing else .

These Ponting / McGrath / Symonds / Brett Lee all were notorious for sledging .

Now they are shown their real place .

Even this ODI series win was a fluke as our bowlers didn't perform & bit of wrong team selection by selectors .

Even , Team India was not at its full strength as Sami & Rahane was injured .

Shilpa...Do you feel really happy with our ODI performance ? 4-1 thrashing which we suffered even when their ace bowlers like Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Stark, Jose Hazelwood were all absent. We should have won at least 2 ODI matches easily which we have lost from the winning position & Dhoni & co. should be kicking themselves for that, the real test of captaincy shows in those sort of critical & under pressure situations, when team required Dhoni to deliver in the middle order, after top 3 batsmen had given a great foundation in almost every game, it's Dhoni's inability to strike the bowl, that let us down, captain cool as people were praising him did not deliver when it mattered the most. Steve Smith, on the other side, though captaining a very young & inexperienced side, invariably delivered a knock-out punch by providing some match-winning performances under pressure, that is what is called as a captain's knock. A captain should always lead from the front & take the responsibility on his own shoulders. But Dhoni almost always run away from responsibilities & blames someone or the other for the failures. In T-20 games we defeated them alright but again what was Dhoni's contribution as a captain or as a batsman? In the last T-20 game, half of Australia's main side was absent they played all the newcomers, so it would have been a real shame for us had we not beaten them 3-0.

So there's nothing to get carried away be overjoyed, we have not achieved so

we have not achieved something unrealistic. In fact we should introspect as to why we had lost 3 games from the winning position, what was the reason of complacent & irresponsible performance in ODI's?
I agree that performance in T-20 was superb & we gave them whitewash but in the hindsight we must introspect what were our weak points in ODI's.

And as for your calling Australians just a fluke & winning matches by sledging, nobody will buy that thought because nobody would win 4 world cups, all the major ICC tournaments all over the world, ashes series, test, ODI series consistently for so much longer duration. Unless you have it in you, you can not deliver such performances consistently throughout.
We must learn from Australian players, their fighting spirit, their hunger to win to perform, their relentless attitude, thorough professionalism, their unmatched fitness & playing to win, take pride & not for records. All these characteristics are there to take the inspiration from & our players must follow them rather than just looking at their occasional sledging.
The players which you have mentioned PONTING/MACGRATH/BRETTLEE are all LEGENDS & born once in centuries. If our Indian players apart from 2-3 exceptions should feel happy to achieve even the 1/4'th of what they have achieved in their career then that would be considered as great achievement.

selection for T20 worldcup
by srirama chandra rao on Feb 02, 2016 07:40 AM  | Hide replies

Manishpandey should be there in the team. There will be four regular bowlers like Bumrah, Ashish or Kumar, Ashwin and jadeja and two part time bowlers in Yuvraj, Raina to fit in for two overs each.If another alrounder is to be taken it can be Irfan pathan or Stuart binny. Eleven can be Shikar, rohit, kohli, rahane or manish, raina, yuvraj, dhoni, jadeja, ashwin, ashish or kumar and Bumrah and it will be a good team team as team can bat sensibly upto Ashwin ie upto no.9. Irfan can be considered in place of Nehra if necessary

I am not convinced about Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, he had lost his bowling completely & proving very costly, instead of Kumar I would rather go for a good spinner & power hitter Pawan Negi who is in terrific form in recent Domestic tournaments OR you can go with Amit Mishra if you want experience especially on Indian turning pitches Mishra will not be easy to get away with & he can bowl with Ashwin as leg spin- off spin combination.
But I would rather go with Pawan Negi because he is a big hitter & give further depth in our batting at the tail & more importantly he is a very good fielder & thrower which is most important quality to have in T-20 cricket. So, he is basically a good all-round cricketer & deserves a place in the side.

PANDYA IS GOOD BUT MANISH PANDEY MUST PLAY
by Hindustani on Feb 02, 2016 12:13 AM  | Hide replies

I would rather go for MANISH PANDEY over HARDIK PANDYA.
Simply because Manish Pandey is far more accomplished batsman than Pandya. Manish have variety of proper cricketing shots along with some outrageous shots which are necessary to have in T-20 these days. Manish could solve our Middle-order batting woes & a man for crisis if Raina & Yuvraj both fails, he is the one who can bat sensibly with cool head & anchor the innings by building partnerships with other batsman while chasing the target, & he can change the gears any time & be aggressive when required whereas Hardik Pandya doesn't have all cricketing shots, he is more of a one dimensional power hitter someone like Azhar Mehmood or Afridi who can turn the match on it's head but lacks the technique to play quality bowling & to build the innings.
If you consider fielding aspect then MANISH PANDEY is one of the best fielders in the side, just like Kohli, Jadeja, Raina & extremely quick & a terrific catcher, he has taken some outstanding catches in IPL & especially in T-20 cricket games are won or lose mainly on your catching & ground fielding.
Lastly, Pandya's bowling looked really ordinary, that was evident even in IPL, so Dhoni can not use him as a regular bowler, he may prove very costly & in T-20 cricket one bad over is enough to turn the game upside down.
So, considering all the above facts, I think
PANDYA is a good player but, if I had to make
a choice between HARDIK PAN
