IND. BOWLING ATTACK LOOKS AS GOOD AS ANY IN THE WORLD-II

(contd.)Now coming to the composition of the side his optimism is indeed well placed as it looks a balanced side especially the bowling suddenly looking very potent as never before. Indian Pacers never looked as good if not better as any other world side before and the overseas tours will be most beneficial to hone their skill to become the new Andersons…and the other famed Aussies. Virat’s spinners already look the best in the world. The new menacing Ashwin with his destructive abilities and confidence should not be difficult for him to re-engineer himself in overseas conditions to intimidate the batsmen. Jadeja of course is unique in his own way complementing Ashwin with his all-round abilities in all the three areas. Jayant Yadav too emerging luckily as a very useful 3rd spinner out the blue for Virat has helped in no small measure. In fact Jayant looks more compact in defense than even Ashwin or Jadeja although as a spinner he still seems to be lacking adequate bite. He looks more conventional off spinner than Ashwin but it is now for Kumble and bowling coach to make him more penetrative. Possibly he is not consistently bowling in the right areas and unable to generate adequate bounce and turn too. May be he should use his body more than just bowling with arm to be more effective. Finally,in respect of batting Virat is the best in the world but others including the bench strength will have to bring more consistency and take responsibility to form the ne

(CONTD.)take responsibility to form the new fab4 or 5. While lower order rear guard action does make it a Champion side to get out of difficult situation but the top order consistency forms the main backbone of a 5 bowlers more Winn ability option.

INDIA EMERGING AS THE NEW AUSTRALIAN SIDE OF PAST DECADES?-I
by damodaran mohan on Dec 15, 2016 07:24 PM

Virat talking about the need for the team\'s consistent win for the next six seven yrs clearly points to a new thinking that as a captain he wants to see team India as the new emerging Australian side of the last decade and a half. With the Aussies on a gradual terminal decline since Michael Clarke\'s time it looks Virat is going to be the next Border or Ian Chappel, Steve Waugh.., and team India the next new Australian side of the past for the world teams to beat. Actually England cap Cook is right that they have played their best but still lost the way they did. They could do little against a better side led by a very able captain who is making things happen rather than waiting for things to happen .Thus he is emerging as one of the all times best captains in the time to come. Of course Ashwin too has been a major factor and difference between the two sides. More surprising is the way Virat seemed to have matured as a leader not just a cricket captain with all his somewhat rough edges of behavior polished overnight even while retaining the aggressive but sporting playing instinct of a great captain. His talks about dominating not just the Tests but in all formats is a sign of a clear visionary leader and it remains to be seen how the Indian side transits in to that space with Dhoni too in the loop. Besides, the overseas tours are the ones which are going to make him the complete player and captain of the new prospective world Champion side.
