Indian fans are still not able to believe the result. On the 4th day WI were reduced to 48/4 but thanks to rain wash out for rest of the day WI doggedly played the whole of 5th day to draw the Test! While psychologically India must be feeling to have lost the Test but the WIans on the other hand must be feeling as if they had won! Now WI must be feeling quite confident and we could see a closer fight in the remaining 2 Tests. With their junior players showing better application in batting in fact after the 1st Test Indian win this blogger did indicate in this very space about some such possibility.The counter attack by Blackwood and Chase simply unbelievable and India certainly have their work cut out now. But question is how did things go so horribly wrong for India? Loss of almost a full day is certainly one of the factor but the fact remains the way the WI lower order applied themselves to counter attack, especially against the spinners paid off strategically for them. Further, curiously the ‘bounce’ looked far less compared to on 4th day which reduced effectiveness of Indian bowling. It is possible those primitive ‘covers’ needing to be pinned down to surface manually could have exposed wicket during overnight rain to make the wicket damp reducing the bounce. The ‘ball’ too seemed to have ‘softened’ as Kohli told the reporters. But the quality of covers used during rains is atrocious and simply unacceptable. Indian tea

Amit Mishra too becomes impatient and gets frustrated too early to lose line and length—overpitching, full tosses etc. giving away easy runs releasing pressure. Jadeja could be tried in his place. Coming to captaincy ,during WI counter attacks field could have be semi--defensive with fielders in deep mid-wkt, deep 3rd man etc. not just to stop boundaries but also for taking catches as many shots were in air. Anyway it is a good learning for Capt. Kohli and the remaining 2 Tests are certainly going to be acid Test for the Kumble-Kohli combine.
And Virat is paying price. That is why Dada is the best Indian captain ever who believed in building a team and brought up match winning bowlers like Zaheer,Bhajji,Nehra etc. Name a single bowler of that class who came under MSD??

dada did nothing to built test team, dhoni paid the price 7-0.
Because of great work as a captain by dhoni virat already has 4 away test wins...
because of great work as a captain by dhoni south africa lost away test series after many many years...

i have already written above what dhoni did and how virat has benefited from it...
Only Indians know how to draw a test or lose from the Jaws of a win. Then praise the opponents. While it is good team spirit to praise the opponents it is equally good to admit the our mistakes !

dhoni won 2 away test series outside the subcontinent..even dravid won 2 away test series outside the sub continet.....ganguly won zero away test series outside the subcontinent....
