JUDICIAL ACTIVISM IN THE EXTREME
by Sanjana Patnaik on Apr 13, 2016 09:53 PM

I am not a great fan of cricket. That does not mean that I am against it. But surely the judgment of the Bombay HC is disappointing. It is very unfortunate that the drought situation in so many states and more particularly in Maharastra is very very the sad state of affairs and when the Govt. is unable to do anything, it is a failure not only the part of the State Govt but also the Central Govt. as well.

But why the IPL is being drawn into controversies by the Bombay HC, it is a million dollar question. Even they have not been asked by the parties who have filed an IPL. This is surely a Judicial activism to the extreme. I think the 5 star hotel should stop supplying water to their residents, even they should stop functioning the swimming pools. What happened to the judges I don\'t know why they are unnecessarily interfering outside their state of affairs when they are even not asked to. If this is the situation of the judges, I am sure that there is going to the anarchy in the future.

The judges should stop unnecessary interference.Would the judges feel that by stopping/shifting IPL, they could stop the real problem.

shifting ipl matches -water shortage in maharashtra
by Mr Ekbote on Apr 13, 2016 09:30 PM

IPL , VS Water for citizens. Which do you prefer? Well, entertainment in sports at a cost not at any cost. The choice is clear, Water is the Need of every citizen. Why should the Judge request BCCI to consider shifting the venue? Ness Wadia did it, Why not BCCI? boycott IPL matches... every citizen in india should boycott, those in mumbai, should not go to the stadium. BCCI will come down to its Knees.Greed Absolute Greed...every one of them.the players, coaches, administrators all.
Roti,Kapada, aur Makaan and yes Pani is todays priority for every indian. its their right. Stop IPL in Maharashtra and drought hit states.

I think, among all IPL franchisee, only NESS WADIA is having some BRAIN & HUMANIY>, leave alone the BCCI & its GREEDY OFFICIALS.
BCCI, first should look in to its own plate ratehr than looking at others for "FLYS". Aurag Thakur is an absolute idiot , still backing for IPL matches in Maharashtra.Whterh it is potable or non potable, it is not the issue. the main issue is WATER. THIS BCCI IS A NOSENSE ORGANISATION. BAN IPL PERMANENTLY.

The water that will be saved by shifting IPL matches outside Maharashtra, will that be transported to the draught hit areas? And how? And who will drink that water? Humans or cattle? Remember it"s non-potable. And who will make up for the revenue loss (about Rs.100 crore) that Maharashtra will suffer due to the shifting of the matches?

Instead, a new tax could have been levied on the matches and the amount collected could had been used for the drought hit area.

Court order IPL to shift matches outside Maharashtra
by P S SHAH on Apr 13, 2016 07:15 PM  | Hide replies

I appreciate stand taken by Ness Wadia who has shown sensibility to the plight of people affected by acute shortage of water in Maharashtra and without asking by anyone, on his own has opted to shift his teams matches from Maharashtra. This is a quality of real person who is sensitive to the hardship of others and not like thick skinned politicians who care for the people only at the time of seeking their votes and not otherwise.

I was shocked to learn that commentators like Gavaskar, Bhogle and Ravi Shastri make cores as Commentators every year in a poor country like ours. The Chairman of the IPL SHRI SHUKLA must be getting an a huge amount to defend this game...another case of of politicians filling their coffers from the ill gotten money which is driven by the Cricket Board and the brokers Mafia.
