Those who have watched Cricket on TV of late would surely agree with me when I say that they are too loud, opinionated and more often than that miss the subtle to state the obvious. With the amount of coverage, even the layman has learned the nuances of the game. They do not need a running radio commentary like Sursh Sarayya used to give. Harsha Bogle holds some records in the highest words per minute contest. He seems so consumed by himself and his affectations will not be missed by many.

I fully agree with this view. It is more of personal glorification than that of the game. It is good is not part of the commentators panel for IPL.

You are talking about Harsha's record for highest word per min then you must be D'head as you can disparage Sidhu's commentary.
Bhogle never had courage to talk anything against BCCI or selection team.
In fact he & Manjrekar used to do appeasement of opposition players on live commentary.
These 2 people have always been afraid to do unbiased commentary.
Nassir Hussein is the best example of unbiased, knowledgeable & precise commentary. He has in depth knowledge of cricket, he reads the game very well, he always criticise without fear when it's actually due & not afraid to praise players when they give good performances.
Bhogle & Manjrekar's get afraid by presence of other commentators & start to sing their tunes instead of putting their unbiased views.
From India only SAURAV GANGULY and to some extent Virender Sehwag has this art of unbiased & fearless commentary.
Rest commentators don't have guts & play in the hands of fellow commentators.
If Indian batsman get away with Umpires decision, Bhogle & Manjrekar will speak about it many many times & show the replay about it & say that how lucky was he & all.
But if opposition batsman get away with Umpire's decision, both Bhogle & Manjrekar will keep their mouth sealed about it.

Don't talk like illiterate.
Are there only 2 commentators in the world ? Sidhu & Bhogle ?
Where did I say that I like Sidhu ?
Sidhu always do over-acting & try to prove that he is the scholar of language. People don't want to hear Sidhu's always irritating & overboard. A commentator should always be in his limits, he must remember that he is mere a messenger & not the main attraction to watch the match.
Who is amitabh Bachhan to comment upon english cricket commentery? Just because he has abaritone voice it means he is an authority to comment how commenatary to be made? That too advice to the likes of mr. Boghle? Sham,e BCCI!!!

I am practicing for an even heavier baritone. YES, in India, ONLY THIS matters, not your logic.
Dhoni got Bhogle out, as Dhoni has been running out of excuses to cloak his increasing incompetency.
Dhoni's rise & India's fall in his shadow (since he is not the visionary that Ganguly was) will not be easily noticed by the public until BIG Damage has been done. Dhoni is at best a man-manager, but does not have the courage to find the next-generation players for India.
Scrap BCCI it seems to be highly corrupt, non-transparent sports body who almost illegally trying to control and represent highly popular sport games, the revenue generated has no control of Indian govt. money goes in and out, highly susceptible sports controlling body...this is the only board where govt. interference is minimal..and they send and select Indian team...are the office bearers elected people representative?
Prem Panicker\'s article on the sacking of Harsha Bhogle is one of the finest articles on the mindset of the BCCI officials. The intolerance levels in this country are rising. Criticism is unwelcome. There is a saying in Marathi by a Saint poet that one should have a critic as a neighbor. BCCI does not believe in being a saint, the current breed of cricketers cannot tolerate or relate to genuine criticism. Toe the line or get booted out is the new age Mantra of BCCI. Hope wiser counsel prevails and Shri Harsha Bhogle, one of the finest of his ilk is reinstated as a commentator.
