no bill protect water
by suraj on Apr 09, 2016 04:41 AM

there was no real plan to solve the problem, i would have been happy if water harvesting, reforestation and other initiatives taken along with this, only stopping IPL can not solve the problem.

un-controlled borewel drilling every house lead to real problem. water recycling in city. good drainage system are real measures of development of country.

not a solution..
by suresh kumar on Apr 08, 2016 05:33 PM  | Hide replies

No one asked for solution for drought. The question is why waste enormous quantity of water when scarcity of drinking water kills people?

IPL & water problem
by Jerome Joseph on Apr 08, 2016 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

Mr. Laxman's utterance is insensitive. Shift the matches from drought prone areas. Kerala and TN in South, North East regions, Kashmir etc could host IPL matches. Atleast they get a chance to witness matches.

problem should be solved from all directions, not just from one end. he right if thought well , there should have been other ways find the solution. inability organize a small event is a matter of national shame too, its not so late to root cause it.

Need the right gesture
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Apr 08, 2016 10:29 AM

True VVS ji , but some decent gesture must be made by the BCCI and IPL as a whole in view of the extremely bad situation this year. Maybe play some 5 matches in MAH. and shift the rest elsewhere ?

That gives time for BCCI to gather its resources.
remember Lal Bahadur ji who asked us all to miss a meal in 1964 ? That didn't solve the food shortage but it was a gesture in sync with our other unfortunate brothers and sisters.

have a though for the farmer who feed us.
by Shyam Sharma on Apr 08, 2016 10:11 AM

The govt. should instead concentrate on looking after the sorrows of the farmers who are the sole persons who feed the citizen of the country. Without them even a billionare would not be able to survive as at the end of the day Rice or Poor all eat bread and sleep. There should be provision during summer for supply of water in the villages of the states for irrigations.

The pampered cricketers have turned so arrogant with so much money flooding their pockets that they hardly bother for the plight of the miserable people of India who are running fom pillar to post for a bucket of water.IPL should be scrapped once and for all.

How can the cricketers be blamed for all this. Do they ask the corporates to pay them heavily. And every one is working hard to earn bigger and bigger. They will play in this hot and humid conditions for 50 days and draw the amount according to their merit. Yes one should make provision for irrigation to the farmers as they are the once who feed the country.

Laxman and reckless utterance
by Manian on Apr 08, 2016 07:10 AM  | Hide replies

IPL is just like a WWF and the beauty of the cricket is totally lost. Just a money making machine for many vested parties including sports personalities and cricketers. Ultimately the money of the common man is chucked out of the system. Pure exploitation of the passion of the people towards cricket. Let Mr Laxman be deprived of few glasses of water when he is in thirst. Today's position is not why drought. How to save water and make it available for needy. The reckless talk of such people irritates and high time IPL is boycotted. Why shiv sena is keeping quiet on such issues why there is not even a whisper. Wondering whether they are also beneficiaries

Nonsense & Useless tournament like IPL must be stopped
by Hindustani on Apr 07, 2016 09:27 PM  | Hide replies

Had such draught observed in his city Hyderabad or his state Andhra, then what would have been his reaction ? He would never dared to talk like this.

It's Laxman's money & contract which is doing the talking here.

IPL is the tournament sponsored by Black Money made out of illegal businesses of frauds & criminals like Vijay Mallya, Gurunath Mayyapppan, N. Srinivasan, Raj Kundra, Ambani etc.

Also it's of no use for Indian cricket.

IPL has produced some utterly useless nonperformers such as Dhawan, Sharma, Raina, Jadeja etc.

So, it's high time that India must stop this nonsense in the name of cricket.
