needs to sound politically correct.

And that may be the reason why he has not mentioned the most pertinent point about the commercial success of the IPL - that Indian middle class commoners, in general, make up one of the stuxpidest segments of humanity!

IPL itself should be scrapped

I am a cricket enthusiast for well over 35-40 years. I am not a conservative or oldie who would say ONLY TEST CRICKET, no one-day or T20, but the shorter versions are a nuisance, too many games are being played and also as rightly pointed out by Mr.Gill, People are being made zombies and addicts of this sport. Culture, Arts, Sports, Cinema, all should have only a limited time in one's life, not hog productive time out of people's life. IPL slam bang is not required at all. Normal domestic cricket and international cricket is sufficient. Grass roots level matches may be strengthened. Test Cricket, One day matches and international T-20's in sufficient ratio per series. It is all people's money going into the coffers of Sponsors by product cost and that going into administrator's and cricketer's coffers. If 100's of crores of advertising is eliminated Corporates, Manufactuers can cut cost of their products and services to common man. Water is not the only issue, many larger issues of propriety and righteousness are involved. Too much of anything will make it sour..

then these criket stars will end their lives like farmers so it is better to ask BCCI to use sea water to spray ground after proper filteration evaporation salt separation by some company or NGO as water evaporation kits are commercially available in open market which rich BCCI can afford do not waste potable water as SC said it is more valuable than life as BIRBAL told KING AKBAR if he is to get glass of water in desert will he donate his half assets the king said yes water is precious than any assets of kings also

IPL Tamasha by BCCI
by mohini on Apr 07, 2016 08:13 PM  | Hide replies

Who is profiting the most by IPL matches.
1 BCCI
2.Players who are already out of national eleven the players who are unfit to be selected in National Team
3.Bookies
4.Advertising companies.

BIIGEST LOOSERS:
INDIAN PUBLIC.BCCI DOES NOT HAVE SENSE ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND THAT ONE STSTE IS SUFFERING FROM DRAUGHT AND PEOPLE ARE DYING OF THIRST.
BUT BCCI IS IN SLUMBER AND HAS GOT NO EMPATHY FOR THOSE STRUGGLING VILLAGERS.

ITS A PITY THAT IT IS HAPPENING IN SO CALLED "BHARAT MATA"
CHANTING BHARAT MATA KI JAI IS BECOMING A HOT TOPIC TO GARNER VOTES BUT NO FEELINGS FOR THE SUFFERING VILLAGERS.

The monsoon season was over long back and people knew there will be drought and this is because of no planning by the GOVT and authorities from last 50 years no plan B or C to counter. Water is wasted in swimming pools all over Mumbai ( lakhs and lakhs of water) in water kingdom, Surajwater park and other places. Every year IPL is conducted in the same period and this is the only one which is of international standard and pride of India, every year some controversy is created before the IPL , this shows people are jealous of the success and the money it generates and also helps the ex cricketers. For gods sake do not Ruin this Brand IPL which we are all proud off. I feel for the farmers and the people who are in this situation, if this water can be transported to the region then it should have been done by now,it shows that this is only a gimmick. We have to look into alternative irrigation and water management for the villages, I think this govt is doing lot of things in the right direction for long term solution. DO not play politics with Brand IPL.
