In essence it is rank underutilization of resources both in bowling and batting knowing fully well the nature of wicket and conditions.So on the whole team India have been found wanting on two fronts:1.Mostly just 5-6 players actively performing in the victories with rest in periphery w/o much contribution that includes no.1 bowler Ashwin.2. In the semis Dhoni as captain miserably failed in strategizing suitably based on known conditions right from team selection to optimum utilization of resources to going for an outright win. Given this background the answer if he will continue as captain till WC 2019, the answer is a firm NO. However he is still the best wk batsman and certainly can play for couple of yrs. However his captaincy longevity will depend upon future series performances of team India.Besides, the team for the 50 overs shorter version itself needs changes immediately especially in the batting with new youngsters taking place of NPAs like Dhawan,Raina and Yuvi. In the bowling Pandya too will have to improve his bowling and shape up. Nehra is too old to continue. jadeja too has failed as all-rounder not coming good with bat. True a Captain howsoever good can't win every game and WI played better cricket on the day. But what irks is that Dhoni did not go all out for a win --he didn't use his resources fully and batters were left twiddling their thumb waiting for their turn to bat even as he himself coming ahead was satisfied playing 2nd fiddle to Virat ! In fact even in earlier matches the team was not playing to full potential which he himself admitted. All the wins were scratchy mainly due to Virat and Dhoni's histrionics. While Dhoni and Virat were the mainstay of batting for bowling his confidants were mainly Nehra, Bumrah and Jadeja with Pandya and Ashwin tried mostly on hit and trial basis. So effectively the team consisted of Dhoni,Virat,Nehra,Bumrah and Jadeja with Pandya and Ashwin playing lesser roles. The remaining played even marginal roles.As Pandya was new and untested he was under trial and Dhoni used him more as a trainee pacer all-rounder for use on long term basis. On the other hand for some reason although Ashwin was supposed to be no.1 spinner but he was under bowled almost in all matches. At Mumbai the possible dew effect was well known in advance and instead of strategizing for it he how could he use it as an excuse ? After that Ashwin no–ball why couldn’t they correct it to not repeat again instead allowing another no ball ?
