Sehwag is one of my favourite players
by Orient Mystique on Oct 20, 2015 03:54 PM  | Hide replies

as far as test cricket is concerned.

I have been watching and following Indian cricket since 1975 and my favourite all time great Indian test XI is:

1. Sunil Gavaskar
2. Virender Sehwag
3. Dilip Vengsarkar
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. V V S Laxman
6. Ravi Shastri
7. Kapil Dev (Captain)
8. M S Dhoni (WK)
9. Anil Kumble
10. Zaheer Khan
11. E A S Prasanna

As I made it very clear, the above is my FAVOURITE team. I am not saying or declaring that it is the BEST TEAM. So, please, no mudslinging and vain arguments here.

There cannot be an Indian test team without Dravid and an ODI team without Ganguly.

Vengsarkar and Prasanna would not find their places there by any means and Shastri???

OMG!!

It is just impossible to compile such list but certainly Ravi Sastry and Dilip Vengsarkar does not deserve a place in this although I do not deny that they are great cricketers. Rahul Dravid and Amarnath certainly should be in.
Your list is great, no arguments there but from my point of view my list is also great.

Viru the Great
by Sachidanandan K on Oct 20, 2015 03:52 PM

WE are so used to his destructive batting, and the present day openers look very ordinary. Pitch, swing, turn all these were not hurdles for Viru. Wish him and his family all good luck

Will miss you Shewag

You were the most destructive batsmen India ever had. On your day even Sachin was of no match. I seriously doubt if India could ever have a explosive batsmen like you. Junior players can learn from you and can mark their place in India team. Thank you for entertaining India with your cricketing skills.

Virender Sehwag - One of the Greates
by DD Sharma on Oct 20, 2015 03:42 PM

Undoubtedly one of the most explosive batsmen, a nightmare for the bowlers in the world. On his day, any kind of attack cannot stop him, can demoralize any attack. What a wonderful batsman, hand and eye contact was tremendous. Will be missed forever. All the best for the rest of the life.

Explosive...thy name is Sehwag
by M IYER on Oct 20, 2015 03:34 PM

U were the personification of Ganguly's aggressiveness on the batting pitch. No doubt, ur phaadu opening thrust open the doors for Dada's plans. All the best and thanks particularly for an unblemished "famous" cricketing all through your career.

Sehwag - A decent farewell
by sanjay munjal on Oct 20, 2015 03:32 PM

The Great Sehwag should have been given a chance to play in an ODI atleast before bidding good bye!
Another controversial end to an enterprising career!
Bravo Virendra!!!1
