This is the time for Mumbai cricketing icons like Gavaskar, Tendulkar,Vengasarkar and Shastri to intervene and appeal to Sena activists to keep sports away from from politics. After all they are our guests. To traet a guest who comes home in this fashion is the cheapest and most reprehensible act.
I wonder what would be the reaction of BCCI if Sena threatens all umpires against giving any Indian batsman out or rejecting any appeal of an Indian bowler? That way Indian team can top all the point-charts too.

Don't worry, Shiv Sena doesn't have mindless people like you. They are fighting in the interest of the nation and community. They are not cricket fanatics.

The Sena guys seem to be quite handy with 'black ink'. I'm sure they would paint Mumbai 'black' with the ink they seem to be freely using.
Shiv Sainiks are just a bunch of hypocritical patriots. What national interest is served by their actions. While our PM goes abroad and impresses everyone all his good work is getting undone by such hooligans. International perceptions are formed only by headlines and not in the details. Shiv Sainiks will soon ensure that the average citizen of the world sees no difference between Pakistan and India. If these Shiv Sainiks are such great patriots then let them go to Pakistan and assassinate Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memons there. Let them stop buying Smart Phones from Samsung, Lava, Micromax, etc that are manufactured in China. That will be true service to India and not these cheap show of patriortism to fool their supporters and ther fringe elements

I quite agree with you Mr. Sriram, except that I'd suggest that if the Shiv Sainiks are 'really true partiots', then let them pick up arms and go the Indian borders with Pakistan and lend the Indian Army a hand in warding off Pakistani infiltrators & taking a shot at the Pakistani army. That I would surely respect, and not just acting a hooligans 'safe' within the country & far away from the Pakistani borders.
It only shows how spineless the BCCI and ICC are. They are making a tamasha of Cricket in this country. Instead of bowing to pressure they should have planned the meetings and matches where troubles are not expected. Not that I am craving to see India play Pak in India or elsewhere,
Relations are a two way street and nothing should be above national interest. You can't expect India to be accommodative to pakistan interest where it suites them. When India makes one step forward to normalize the relation, I do expect pakistan to reciprocate similar gesture whether it is trade, culture, sports. As long as we don't see this happening, no point in normalizing cricket relation with Pakistan.
Rather than withdrawing the umpire, BCCI should have withdrawn the match from Mumbai & conducted it at some other place. Unfortunately, goons like the shiv sena, are a threat to the society.

Perfectly put Mr. Subir! The BCCI should never keep Mumbai as a venue for any cricket matches till the Shiv Sena pipe down.
