TIME FOR PUJARA TO BECOME A PERMANENT INDIAN TEST FIXTURE
by damodaran mohan on Nov 04, 2015 05:47 PM

After the SL series win Virat will like to go into the series with a win to maintain the winning maintain as a Test captain. There is no Dhoni too to single out in case of a loss and Virat will have to take the entire blame.Further, SA is a much stronger Test side than the Slans and his captaincy will be put to real test.Given that Mohali wicket generally helps fast bowlers it becomes difficult w/o inspecting the wicket to decide on the no. of spinners to play.If Shastri & co. are confident about the wicket helping spinners then they can certainly play 3 spinners. However if they are unsure then it is better to have extra batting back up as it is a fresh start of Test match after a gap.Batters could be rusty and take time to settle down.If team management settles for two spinners then Virat might prefer a left armer in Jadeja. In case of two pacers it is certainly going to be Umesh Yadav and Varun Aron.I don't think Bhuvi stands much chance after his poor show in the one dayers.Pujara has to be part of the line up and I would prefer the extra batsman to be the young KL Rahul with future in mind rather than Rohit Sharma whose consistency is suspect any way in Tests. At individual level Pujara has to assert his stamp of authority to cement a permanent place in the likely new fab four of Indian Test cricket--Kohli,Pujara,Rahane and Rahul/Rohit ? Shikhar Dhawan I think will be played because of his dream Test debut here but he too could be under pressure.

What an Equation
by himamshu on Nov 04, 2015 03:52 PM

If India play 5 or more Bowlers - Batting becomes weak and we will have a Ready excuse already for losing.

If India play 4 bowlers - Bowling becomes weak, but Batting will invariably fail whether we have Top 6 or Top 7 Reputed names.

If India do not prepare Spinning wickets it will be Game over.

If India lose the toss, SA might bat first and India might bat last on the 4th innings on a rank turner.

If India win the toss and India bat 1st - SA might bowl us out cheaply as our batsmen will be in T20 mode.

So better not expect anything big - Just see the Test series, but forget the results.
