Aussies have won their title in India, England, South Africa, West Indies & In their own back yard. Which means they have won the cup where ever in universe it was staged. It shows that no situation is matter to them except to raise their game for victory.
Kudos to Cricket Australia for achieveing this right from Allan Border, Steve waugh, Rickty ponting & Michal Clerke

That is true for every team now a days. There will not be teams like WI of 80s and Aus of 90s & early 2000.Even NZ are lambs outside their territory.

NZ were clueless yesterday..they can only play against zimbabve, Ireland, west indies, U.A.E. against champions like AUSSIES they are like lamps..
Australia once again showed that when situation demands, they rise up.The bowling of Australia was at its peak and the batting ever consistent. I think mediocre players like Virat Kohli should take some lessons from Steve Smith or at least from Rahul Dravid about "how a No 3 batsman should play".
It is indeed a sad state of Indian media that all major newspapers and news chanels gave more priority to a Cricket game between teams unrelated India and lower priority to two Indians willing the Badminton Indian open. Badminton is a much more competitive sport than cricket and the achievement of these Indians is really great. No wonder India remains a poor sporting Indian nation.

media does not decide the priority. it is the readers. badminton is also covered - but cricket comes up because it gets more clicks. it may be sad but it is a reality..
The Kiwis tried to play hard, but, all they achieved was to make India look good in the Semi final against Australia. As a die hard Indian supporter, I am not complaining!!

Yes. We scored a massive 50 runs more than the Kiwis. Must count for a lot. :-)
I cant fathom how the writer can even suggest this when the same guys beat the Aussie in group stage. Ground here is immaterial for it was same for both the teams. At such level the game is more of a war of nerves than nerves of war and the team which holds its composure better and is aided a bit by luck. Same NZ beat SA in a cracker of a thriller in semis. But their luck deserted them and yes, Aussie had the home advantage too. To me Aussie executed their plan better and NZ were hamstrung by some careless batting. All through the WC NZ displayed aggressive intent which paid well. So, it was one of those off days for the black caps, nothing else. Writer would do well to remember that casual commenting is also not a done thing, no matter how flowery the language.

Luck? Please explain what was NZ bad luck? Any runouts they missed? Did rain cons and curtail the match? The "cracker of a thriller" you refer to, was real case of SA bad luck.

As stated the team which is able to hold its nerve better. In both games against SA in semis and Aussie in group stage, NZ players were able to maintain their composure in crucial moments. That's what counts. The same team's loss in final is definitely not on account of their cracking under pressure which the writer suggests in article but rather due to careless approach while batting. And please, SA definitely cracked under pressure in semis especially the final over.

neither am i clear what exactly 'growing up' means - unless it is about handling pressure in a big game.. all out aggression is great when it comes of - but makes you look silly when it doesn't. nz just scraped through their league encounter against aussies and would have looked silly if they had lost and in the final they were blown away. but i suppose the success percentage is higher with such an approach and nz reaped it.

I'll write free for you on auto, cinema, cricket and food/cookery, but get rid of these no gooders.
The Black Caps confronted a better side. Just like India did. The Aussies are awesome and under Clarke they are much better than the Indians under Dhoni, whatever the Indian media hype about "Captain Cool" and whatever. The Aussies taught India how to play 50 over cricket and now they have taught the New Zealanders.... Go Australia, you are the best.

new Zealand were fine till 150-3 was score then 183-10 seven wickets fall just for 33 runs there some doubt in my mind regarding one sided matches after sharad pawar arrival in Australia may be?
Panicker may not have held a cricket bat, but his writing is pure poetry. I bet Narendra Modi could write more about cricket and in such a beautiful way.
