Th REAL problem with India Cricket is
by shailesh on Mar 27, 2015 06:07 PM  | Hide replies

They are interested in making too many STARS who are hyped and rake in moolah instead of statistically bringing the system up for National duty.

Imagine a few players going off the Australian cricket team - they will be replaced with almost equally strong team from the bench in no time.

You have to create a system which will say create a pool of 15-20 batsman and 15-20 bowlers and improve their skill sets, regularly (by having them compete with each other in a closed environment) and almost all of them will be on equal contracts - instead of creating superstars earning 300 crores. You may even have a system in which all Ads-campaigning earning of these STARS are divided so that 20% is retained by players and rest is used to bring up this sport and other sports in nation by creating facilities across the country.

Current system has too much division between economic status of the stars causing all kinds of politics and favoriticism as well instead of focus on national service. People in team are merely looking for each other for preservation of their financial strength - nation is suffering.

That's a good proposal, where in endorsement money is divided among all players. Also, you don't want few star cricketers earning easily 100 Crores (any corporate CEO will be put to shame by this kind of earnings). Part of the money can easily be utilized not just for development of cricket, but also upliftment of other sports in India.

Let us face the truth
by Indira Venkataraman on Mar 27, 2015 04:49 PM

Being in the easier pool, India was not really tested in this WC till the semis except may be against the Proteas. The two best teams in this tournament (who were also in the tougher group) deservedly reached the finals. Anyway, no one thought India would reach this far in this WC, considering their performance in the tri series. In that respect it was a creditable show upto the semi finals. Better luck next time India! Let the best team win the Wc2015!

Cricket World Cup is over. Focus on other sports ! Wake-up Rediff
by Vijay K on Mar 27, 2015 04:31 PM

Our Media is equally responsible for the cricket hype. They occasionally regret lack of focus and support to other sports but very rarely give adequate support to sports other than cricket.

Look at the recent media coverage of cricket. In spite of semi final loss and exit from world cup, media is still filled with cricket and only cricket.

Look around what is happening. World Badminton Super Series is being played in New Delhi. It is a prestigious event organised in India. Many international stars have descended in Delhi. Indian Stars are also doing well in the tournament. But there is hardly any mention about it in media.

Common Rediff wake-up !!!

by Dhantannan on Mar 27, 2015 04:30 PM

by aussies still they would not have scored 328.
aussie is strong. we were living on false hopes due to easy outings in league , QF etc.
reachig semis is good enough for our team.

Four months. No wins...
by karthi d on Mar 27, 2015 04:05 PM

Four months, no wins...a perfect stmt to describe Indian Cricket team. India had an unfair advantage over other teams in the WC..they toured AUS and NZ for 3 months before WC...they easily defect every other team except the home team...the BCCI...the another hype man KHOLI...he still pi$$ in his pants agains AUS.

Perfect

even though this article is in lighter vain, but fact remains India failed to beat Australia even once on their just-ended tour Down Under. Adding, BCCI left no stone unturned to make India acclimatise better before WC.. A Luxury no other Team had.
