will bat for fame & fortune

did you ever wonder why Dhoni or his bous haven't shown the same application in the country level ODIs? they got hammered in tests and odiS in England & Australia.

World cup carries prize money and fame, the regular series are a time-pass...the players 'work' like the bureaucrats and sarkari babus..or like the babus in private cos.

Whether Dhoni & Co works really hard or not, the Indian team might in all likelihood fail big in the semi final or the final !

The team is actually so very brittle, hype apart.

Well played..well done...!!!

Indian Cricket Team is playing cool and composed innings to win each and every match in a dedicated and sincere fashion. Captian MS Dhoni is a real captain who has landed late in Australia - and he is showing his sense of purpose and sincere maturity in dealing...each match by its merit.
It is very unfortunate and extremely sad and bit dejection...that we in India (by media) keep blaming and criticizing - despite win.
India players are the most unfortunate souls who get needlessly pinpointed - even if they win......
Despite this shortcomings and self inflicted hurtings.....great and patriotic-great cricketers like Kapil Dev and Dhoni are proving their critics wrong and winning matches...
We all want Captian MSD and his team to win their next match...it can be Bangladesh...but win matters. Winning raises morale and spirits of players..
e all there to cheer this great and wonderful bunch of talented players...

This is slowly building up nicely for India.......i think they will again be tested in the QFs and then peak in the semifinals.....
Mind you, the QF will be a close one but we should come through....

Resilience ?
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Mar 14, 2015 05:36 PM  | Hide replies

Not so fast regarding our resilience. One could see how weak the Zimbabwe bowling was, once their opening bowlers finished. Australia and NZ will give no such lollipops to anyone, so it'll be much, much tougher. Our openers' form is still poor and how can we expect Kohli to cover up for Rohit's failures forever ?

I agree with you. It will be tougher even against Bangla Desh in quarter final.

pSuresh Raina and Dhoni played well
by avinash on Mar 14, 2015 05:34 PM

Suresh Raina played well and supported Dhoni well in the game his 108 runs turned the tide on ZIMBABWE. Mahendra Dhoni played and deserved a century which was not to be .zimbabwe should have played well and were a 20 or thiry short

and common Indian fans already appear to be sure that India is going to win the world cup !

The knock out matches can indeed prove to be very very cruel !

So Mr "Uncommon Indian" who thinks he is above the riff raff....what is your great prediction?? Whatever be it, it is not based on current form or facts based analysis......it seems to be based on a prejudice, an inferiority complex of being an Indian and historical banalities.....

Purely on current form, India and New Zealand have emerged as the 2 best sides...if you want to put blinkers and stubbornly deny the obvious, it is your choice.....
You have got to be playing good cricket if you have beaten the Proteas by 130 runs and the Pakistanis by 70 odd runs.......so irrespective of what happens after this, you cannot deny that India have played champion stuff till now......
And one more thing, the most "common hoi polloi" in this chatroom is you......pls do not have an inflated view of self...

My point is that India winning the world cup is very unlikely !

The long maligned and then recently much hyped Indian pace attack actually is not a patch on the likes of Mitchell Starc, Tim Southee, Dale Steyn, etc.

The inherent shortcomings will, more likely than not, be exposed cruelly in the semi final or, if the team is lucky enough to get there, the final !

That is the whole problem with your thinking and many others like you who are settled in a foreign land and who start frowning on anything that is Desi....NRIs like you are the biggest enemy of India.....in what way is Shami inferior to Starc??

Just cos you are settled in USA or England or Australia does not give you the right to demean India...
You should be ashamed of yourself.....

You have presumed I am an NRI !!

And with regard to the quality of the Indian cricket team, perhaps the best way to come to a conclusion is to actually wait and see the results at the current world cup !!

It is obvious that you are an NRI......but not the patriotic one who supports India...but someone who is more loyal to the country where he earns his bread and butter...and that goes without saying is the USA......fair enough...no more arguments....we will wait and watch.......

Hehehehe....another brilliant finish by india's greatest odi batsman till date... dhoni! Another regulation innings....

compare dhoni's innings with ABD innings the other day. when dhoni came in to bat 196 runs were required when abd came in to bat 165 runs were required....less wickets had fallen of SA....still dhoni there as usual another brilliant regulation innings...while ABD PaEE_D in his pants against PAK and got out and SA lost the match....

Dhoni - India's greatest odi batsman till date!- a big joke! Good only against teams like WI and UAE! Yes he is a good finisher But that's on sub-continent dead pitches! Yet to prove his credential as good finisher against quality teams outside sub-continent!

My question is Did Pollock, Greig and Company acknowledged him as the India's greatest ODI batsman? My objection (and not achallenge) is for Mr. Sunil Vaidya calling Dhoni as India Greatest ODI batsman till date. As a batsman, is Dhoni is greater OD batsman than Sachin, Ganguly, Sehwag? Yes, he is a good finisher on sub-continent dead pitches. That's all
