Viv Richards without doubt. The bowlers he faced in his era -Lillee, Thompson, Hadlee, Imran, Botham etc and that too without a Helmet puts a completely different perspective to this comparision. Modern batsmen since the 1990s have had it much easier with flat tracks, protective equipment, rules bent to make it far easier for them to score -Field restrictions, legside wides, free hits following a no-ball and all that nonsense makes good batsmen look like supermen. Technology with much wider, meatier bats also has given them a great advantage over the earlier era batsmen- far easier to hit boundaries and sixes. Average batsmen and even bowlers these days hit sixes -sometimes off mis-hits ! There is simply no comparision to Viv at all.
