DHONI LEADS FROM FRONT AND SAVES A 'BANGLAWASH'
by damodaran mohan on Jun 25, 2015 06:24 PM  | Hide replies

Yes team India did manage to salvage some pride with the emphatic win. The team showed real character the way they bounced back avoiding a ‘Banglawash’ with Dhoni leading from the front. The question as to why did it have come to this far has to be discussed separately. Thus Dhoni has managed some temporary reprieve and saved his job for the time being as he certainly looks over the hill. At best he could prolong till next T20 WC or little further for another yr but chances for going up to next WC looks remote. His tactical change of promoting in batting order to no 4 is towards that effort of prolonging his career. But it is not going to be easy the way he struggled pushing and plodding in the 2nd match affecting rhythm of other batters too. It was seen that Dhoni had slowed down the scoring rate to a trickle with both Dhawan and Raina coming under pressure and getting out playing rash shots trying to up the scoring. However to Dhoni’s credit he corrected it in the next and last match and played fluently ensuring a healthy run rate which helped the team score 300plus which ultimately led to the win. Among others Dhawan played one of his best innings seen in recent times but it was Raina’s all round performance actually which turned the match in India’s favor. Rayudu too justified his inclusion while both the superstars Kohli and Rohit flopped yet again. Raina’s slow bowling was simply exceptional leaving the regular spinner

(contd.)..the regular spinner Ashwin far behind although he and Axar Patel too bowled well. Here is the lesson for Ashwin ,supposed to be the front line bowler and still young -----shouldn’t such playing 2nd fiddle to a part timer hurt his pride and egg him to come up with ‘impact’ performances like Raina rather than be satisfied with ‘good’ bowling ?

looking at dhoni's performances at no. 2 3 and 4 in odis it is clear that if he had batted all his life on these positions his record would have been better than kohli amla abd and sachin....it is only in team's interest that he has to bat down the order most of the times....he can do whatever sachin kohli abd amla etc can do at the top but they cannot do what dhoni can do at no. 6 and 7...

Dhoni is even a world class all rounder which he did not want to pursue for the sake of the team, he can even do commentary and coach the team apart from single handedly winning world cups.

Success or failure

I donot know why media is always talk about success only and always curse about the failures.Leave Dhoni and his team alone. He knows hoe to transform failures into success. We should the change the attitude of pinpointing a person whenever he fails in his attempts as if we all donot fail in all the attempts.

India's emphatic win

Dhoni really batted well and also Dhawan. Quick fire works by Raina with bat and later with ball made lot of difference. Rayudu also batted well and India had good partnership excepting opening wicket
Dhoni coming at No. 4 is really good for India as he has enormous experience in one day matches
