Only that person gets respect, who has given it to his seniors at the time of their retirement....i am talking about genuine respect not the photo-op one.
Mr Gavaskar, You must understand that captain is always chosen by the selection committee of BCC! and it is not ancestral property of anyone to keep it in hand as long as he likes. I don't say Dhoni is to be removed but leaving the decision to Dhoni to have captaincy or not is definitely ridiculous to say the least.
