HE WILL HAVE TO LEAD FROM FRONT WITH CONSISTENT BATTING
by damodaran mohan on Jul 07, 2015 06:59 PM

Zim could be the ideal underdog side for starting A/Rahane his Captaincy stint and to that extent the selectors seems to have taken special care generally cricketers cannot hope for. Given that he has not been very consistent with bat with an average of just around 30 it is a lucky breaks so early in their career! He was dropped in the B’desh series after one match ! However given couple of his occasional gritty innings perhaps the selectors in a somewhat hurried risk taking decision for whatever reason have reposed confidence in him. It is now for Rahane to live up to their expectations. That way it is going to be a real challenge for him as captain to man mange the seniors and past ‘discards’ making a comeback who will be playing to cement a permanent place in the side. As Captain he will also have to meet the challenge of guiding and get best out of young inexperienced bowlers. There is no Ravi Shastri too and so his game acumen will be put to real test in finalizing the playing XI every time as the situation demand. Coming to his own batting despite the occasional heroics fact remains he is very vulnerable in his 20-30s and it has been observed that more often he gets out against the run of play when the going is good. He seems to be getting distracted and has the tendency to get out to poor shot making too often. Worst, he will run himself out should the bowlers fail to dislodge him. Now he will have to lead from front. All the best.

Ajinkya Rahane who was dumped by Dhoni for the last two ODIs. in Bangaladesh is leading this side to zimbabwe.credit to the selection committee?Whose recommendations?Ravi Shastri or the expert committee of Sachin,Dada and Laxman.or Dravid Any way the choice will be appreciated only after the results of the tour.
